How to use the drug "Rat Death"

Who loves rodents? No, we are not talking about cute, decorative bunnies and white mice, but about big rats. These creatures leave traces of their presence in your home, gnaw everything that gets in their way, and spoil food products. In addition, rats carry a large number of dangerous diseases. These are plague and rabies, hemorrhagic fever and much more. Of course, rats rarely come into apartments; the private sector suffers much more often from their attacks. Rodents especially love those houses where pets are kept. This means warmth and plenty of food.

Rodent control

Today, there are numerous rodent control products on the market, but defeating them is not so easy. Often, buyers note that rats eat the poison stored for them, but the next day new holes or other signs of the presence of uninvited guests appear. From this we can conclude that most drugs are not very effective.

Today, a new generation of rodenticide has appeared on the market, which differs from its predecessors in its highest efficiency. This is "Rat Death", the reviews of which are very impressive. Consumers note that it is attractive to rodents and leaves no chance for the latter.

Efficiency according to reviews

Rats appeared in the garage, began to slowly enter the house, and were noticed in the chicken coop. Traps and rat traps were avoided and only one rat was caught. We bought a poisonous drug - Rat Death. I had to wait a week for the result. Over the next 10 days, dead rodents were found in the yard. We managed to get rid of the pests.

For a summer residence it is the best remedy. The mice ran freely and were not even afraid of people. They treated me to poison. A week later we arrived, there was no movement, only the smell of a corpse appeared. They collected the bodies and buried them in the ground. We use it periodically during the cold season.

Convenient release form, the bait smells like meat. Attracts the attention of rodents well. Remains in a capable state for a long time. At first, the rodents attack it with great appetite. After 3 days, activity subsides. The poison begins to take effect. After 10 days, the briquettes are not touched, no mice are heard. Works quickly!

Poison from rats and mice is the most common means of controlling rodents. Rat death allows you to quickly destroy small mice, large rats, such as pasyuki, and exterminate an entire population in a short time. The only rule when using poison is to strictly follow the instructions and safety recommendations. Customers periodically leave reviews about the product on forums.

Manufacturer

Sellers often claim that this is an Italian drug. Reviews “Rat Death” is sometimes called “Italian Death”. This is not entirely accurate. The product is produced in Ukraine from drugs purchased in Italy. In fact, this is not one drug, but two.

  • “Rat Death No. 1” is a blue-green granule that has an attractive odor. The basis of this drug is brodifacoum. This drug reduces blood clotting and causes bleeding. Another effect is suffocation. This is often mentioned in reviews. “Rat death” causes rodents to rush around in search of fresh air, and if the room is open, they will leave it and die on the street. Moreover, death occurs in about a week, during which time the poisoned creature will go far.
  • The second drug has even more attractive reviews. "Rat Death #2" is shaped like pieces of meat. The filling is an even stronger poison called bromadiolone. It causes multiple bleeding, as well as disturbances in the respiratory system. It is also not a fast poison, and the death of rodents usually occurs on the eighth day. It's worth noting that a poisoned rat will stop feeding, which means it will have no reason to stay near your home.

Composition of the drug

Rat Death poison is available in two forms - Rat Death 1, Rat Death 2. The main difference is in the active ingredient. The first drug uses brodifacoum, the second - bromadiolone.

Brodifacoum is more toxic; a small dose is enough to poison an animal. Bromadiolone acts more slowly, but the results are impressive.

The first drug is released in blue-green tones, the second one resembles pieces of meat. The following are used as auxiliary components:

  • flour;
  • vegetable oil;
  • nutritional supplements;
  • flavorings.

The toxic substance does not reveal itself in any way. Rats eat the bait with great eagerness and a huge appetite. Since the product does not begin to act immediately, pests do not see anything suspicious in the treat. All that remains is to add more poison to the rats and wait for the result.

What makes it attractive?

Rats carefully study a new type of food. If he scares them with something, the rodents will refuse to try, and all efforts will go to waste. Attractiveness is ensured by its unique shape, not a tablet, but a dough-like mass. To date, there have been no similar preparations, so your guests will have no reason to refuse the feast.

The second important point is the quality composition. Earlier generations of rat poison were poisoned grain or meat. Today, most rodents recognize such baits well and refuse them. And here the basis is aromatic sunflower oil, flour and sugar, that is, sources of clean energy that are very valued by all living beings.

When is hospitalization needed?

Sometimes, when trying to poison rats, people themselves are exposed to the harmful effects of toxic substances. In some cases, it is necessary to hospitalize the victim. Treatment in a hospital is carried out as follows. Drugs from the group of hepatoprotectors and forced diuresis are prescribed. In addition, as mentioned earlier, it is mandatory to administer an antidote in the form of vitamin K. It is administered for 15-30 days, depending on the degree of intoxication.

In case of a particularly complex form of poisoning, the doctor may prescribe a blood plasma transfusion. This manipulation will help replenish the blood clotting factor. The degree of recovery of the patient can be determined by studying the prothrombin index. Taking B vitamins will help restore the functioning of the immune system after an illness. The patient should get plenty of rest, avoid stressful situations and physical strain.

So, rat poison is a truly dangerous substance. To avoid poisoning, you can resort to other methods of fighting rats, for example, traps

If, nevertheless, the choice is made in favor of poison, it is imperative to follow all precautions

Why make a “time bomb”?

Rodents have amazing genetic memory. If one of the rats returns to the nest and dies, its relatives and descendants will never take this poison. It is thanks to this that populations survive in conditions of constant destruction. Therefore, today you have to choose a poison with better characteristics, such as “Rat Death 1”. Reviews confirm that, depending on the number of rats, fighting them takes from a week to several months, but it is effective.

Since poisoned rodents do not die immediately, their relatives do not develop a connection with the food they find. She continues to consider it completely safe. When the first individual falls in a week, the rest may also be poisoned.

Active substances of drugs and their effect on rats

Both brodifacoum and bromadiolone are anticoagulant rodenticides. When they enter the rat's liver, they interfere with the formation of vitamin K, which is responsible for blood clotting. A lethal dose of an anticoagulant leads to the development of extensive hemorrhages in the internal organs and death of animals 3-4 days after eating the poisoned bait.

Such a “delayed” effect of the poison is very important from a practical point of view: rodents do not feel the toxic effect for a long time after eating the drug once, and therefore boldly use it again and again, and also lead to the poisoning of their fellow tribesmen. At the same time, anticoagulants are not excreted in the urine, they gradually accumulate in the animals’ bodies and kill them when a lethal dose is reached.

However, brodifacoum and bromadiolone can kill a rodent even after a single use of the drug, if the animal eats a sufficient portion of it. This is the main difference between the active components of Rat Death and the first generation anticoagulants. However, even if a significant amount of poison is consumed, the death of the animal will not occur immediately, but with some delay.

Review

“We placed Rat Death all over the kitchen in the corners and closed the doors at night so that the cat wouldn’t find it. In the morning, two tablets were gnawed, we collected everything, and the next night we laid it out again. And the next morning they found a mouse in the middle of the kitchen. She was still alive, but she hardly moved, she twitched a couple of times when her husband touched her, but she could not escape. Generally abnormal behavior, it seems to me, because I thought that the animal would die in its nest, and the death must be some kind of terrible, with agony. But it doesn’t matter, the mouse died, and new ones no longer appeared, that is, the method worked ... "

Marina, Odessa

The amounts of active ingredients in Rat Death poisons No. 1 and No. 2 are selected so that rodents do not feel their taste and are not wary when eating them. Thus, the proportion of brodifacoum in the drug is 0.005%. Additionally, the products contain aromas and flavoring additives (including vegetable oil), which mask the residual taste of the poison and attract rats and mice.

Lethal doses of brodifacoum and bromadiolone, as well as lethal quantities of the drugs themselves for rodents, are given in the table:

Substance/DeviceLethal dose, black and gray rats, for 1 animalLethal dose, house mice, for 1 animal
Brodifacoum0.1 mg0.012 mg
Bromadiolone0.3 mg0.03 mg
Rat Death 12 g0.24 g
Rat Death 26 g0.6 g

On average, an adult rat eats about 50 grams of food per day, and a mouse eats about 5 grams. That is, if a hungry animal finds bait, then with a high probability it will eat a portion that is lethal for it.

To date, there are no known cases of resistance to brodifacoum or bromadiolone in rodents. If a rat or mouse in a room eats enough poison, it will die.

Review

“It is very difficult to buy Rat Death in St. Petersburg. We couldn’t find them in hardware stores, several online stores seem to sell them, but they don’t respond to emails, and support doesn’t work. Then they finally found one normal one. We bought several packages of Rat Death 1, laid them out on cardboards according to the instructions, and took them out of the packaging with toothpicks (this is how original “sushi” turned out). We didn’t see a single dead rat, but we stopped spoiling the food, which means we died.”

Characteristics of the drug "Rat Death"

The poison, reviews of which are so encouraging, has no analogues in our country yet. Moreover, direct deliveries are carried out not only to Russia, but also to Europe.

  • The basis for the drug is natural ingredients.
  • To make it more attractive, specific flavors are added to the composition.
  • Antimicrobial and antifungal substances are also elements of the dressing. It is due to them that the shelf life of the composition is extended to two years.

Even with a single use, the drug causes death, this is confirmed by numerous reviews. The “Rat Death” instructions recommend placing it in its original place for at least another week. If no one touched the bait, then perhaps the rodent was alone.

Another important point is the unique packaging. The mass is distributed in portions of 12 grams for each filter paper bag. The packaging perfectly allows odor to pass through, but at the same time protects the contents from moisture. This allows the product to be used with great success even in sewers and other damp places.

Types of rat poison and its effect on the human body

Rat poison is called a “rodenticide” - it is a means of killing rodents. It belongs to the group of pesticides and is widely used in agriculture and in everyday life. There are several types of rodenticides that differ in the effect of rat poison on animals, including humans.

  1. Ratside (naphthylthiourea) and zinc phosphide are currently limited in use due to high toxicity. They are acute agents and cause 100% death of rodents within a few hours after eating the bait. They are used under strict control in areas where other poisons no longer work.
  2. Obsolete poisons prohibited for use: arsenic and lead compounds, thallium sulfate, yellow or white phosphorus, strychnine.
  3. Almost all commercially available anti-rat and mouse products contain zoocoumarins. These are substances that interfere with blood clotting. As a result of eating such poisons, rodents die from internal bleeding. First generation anticoagulants: Warfarin (Zookoumarin), Ratindan, Izoindan, Ethylphenacin and others. They do not accumulate in the body, act slowly and are excreted by the kidneys within 3–4 days. Some rodent populations develop immunity to this group of anticoagulants over time. Therefore, more potent drugs were invented. Second generation anticoagulants are more toxic, act faster and accumulate in the body, that is, they have a cumulative effect. This group includes: Brodifacoum, Bromadiolone, Flocumafen, Difenacoum and others.

When rat poison is ingested, the lethal dose for humans will depend on the active substance and the state of health, primarily the liver. It is the liver that synthesizes the factors necessary for normal blood clotting. And anticoagulant poisons destroy these substances. For Warfarin, the lethal dose (LD50) is 60 mg/kg body weight, and for Bromadiolone – 300 mg/kg.

It is difficult to accidentally ingest large amounts of rat poison. To obtain a lethal dose, repeated exposure of anticoagulants to the body will be required. Rats must eat the bait for a week to die. In addition, the finished form of rat poison usually contains from 0.1 to 2% of the active substance. To prepare the bait, the drug is mixed with grain, minced meat or other food attractive to rodents. Rat poison, which includes zoocoumarins, in a ready-to-use mixture contains approximately 2–3% of the drug, which in terms of pure poison is an average of 0.02%. Thus, if an adult needs to eat 3-4 grams of pure poison to die, then in terms of the commercial form this will be about 150 grams. Soft briquettes - anti-rat tablets, so popular today, contain 0.005% poison. Even a child needs to swallow a fairly large piece to become seriously poisoned.

It should be noted that some rat poisons can be absorbed through the skin. Those working on bait preparation should take precautions.

Instructions for use, reviews

“Rat Death” is a toxic drug that must be handled very carefully. It is recommended to always wear gloves. Then follow one of the following points:

  • If the poison is laid out in dry places, then it is enough to simply select places inaccessible to children and pets.
  • When working in damp places, it is recommended to use a substrate in the form of thick sheets or bags. Packets of the drug are distributed throughout the territory.
  • The placement zone is the areas of the house most visited by rats.
  • Be sure to monitor the condition of the baits and place new bags in place of the eaten ones.
  • If you stop touching it, but the presence of rodents remains, then try another drug with a similar active ingredient.

It is important to remember that the integrity of the bag packaging must not be damaged. In this case, the bait will smell like a person. Be careful when placing individual bags. It is best to do this with gloves and tweezers.

Rules for using the product

Although the instructions for using Rat Death are quite simple, it is important not to neglect some points that may seem insignificant at first glance.

When working with the drug you should:

  1. Prepare pieces of cardboard measuring approximately 10x10 cm or larger (a briquette of poison will be placed on each of them). The number of such “bait stations” must correspond to the number of places in which the facility is planned to be placed;
  2. Open the package, then use tweezers or a toothpick to remove the poison packets and place them on cardboard (using auxiliary products for contact with the packets is an important point in the instructions). To fight mice, put one bag on each cardboard, and to fight rats - two;

  3. The cardboards are laid out in places where rats are believed to be most likely to be found - near burrows, discovered travel routes, and places where the animals steal food. When fighting mice, baits are placed at a distance of 2-5 meters from each other, and when fighting rats - 4-15 meters;
  4. All portions of poison should be checked daily. New bags of Rat Death should be placed in place of the eaten bait;
  5. When the poison remains intact at all points for several days in a row, it can be concluded that rats and mice do not appear in the room. Cardboard boxes with Rat Death are collected in a thick plastic bag and thrown away.

If the rodent repellent is placed in suitable places and the pests quickly find it, then they begin to die on the 3-4th day, and the peak of poisoning usually occurs on the 6-7th day. Usually, after 2 weeks, all rodents in the room die, and the use of the poison can be stopped.

When working with Rat Death, it is important not to touch the poison with your hands so as not to leave a human smell on it - it can scare away rats and mice.

There is also no need to open paper filter bags: rats and mice easily chew them and get to the poison itself.

In accordance with the instructions, the bags remaining after baiting, as well as the found corpses of rats and mice, should be buried in the ground to a depth of at least 0.5 m. If they are simply thrown into the trash, then birds, cats, and dogs can find them in landfills and eat them or other animals. Although it is obvious that most rodent fighters (especially in cities) will not bother burying the poison and remains of rats. In any case, for disposal, both the remains of the poison and the corpses of rats should, at a minimum, be placed in tight bags and tied.

With some probability, rats can die right indoors, and in places where it can be very problematic to get their remains: under the floor, behind a wall, etc. While they decompose (several weeks, or even months), there will be a strong disgusting smell. Therefore, it is not recommended to use Rat Death in areas bordering difficult to reach cavities. In these rooms it is better to fight rodents using rat traps or repellers.

On a note

Many sellers claim that before dying, among other symptoms, rats experience suffocation and try to get out into fresh air, and therefore they will not die inside buildings and will not stink. However, there is no statistically significant evidence that rats begin to behave this way before death. But there are real stories about how pests died from the Rat Death and began to decompose right in the premises, and therefore you should not completely rely on the assurances of resourceful sellers.

Disposal methods and precautions

This drug can be classified not only as one of the most effective, but also affordable drugs. It has one more advantage: the drug is completely biodegradable. If you don't need the leftovers and don't want to endanger your pets by keeping it at home, it's recommended to simply burn it over an open fire. In addition, disposal by burying in the ground is recommended. In about a month, it will disintegrate into its simplest elements.

  • If poisoning with this drug occurs, it is necessary to induce vomiting and rinse the stomach. After this, we take saline solution and 20 tablets of activated carbon. You definitely need to see a doctor.
  • If the drug gets on your skin, rinse it thoroughly with water. The antidote is vitamin K.

“Rat Death”: pros and cons, assessment of the effectiveness of the drug

The appearance of rats in the house is not only unpleasant, but also very dangerous. Therefore, when you notice the first pest, immediately start a war. “Rat Death” is recognized as an effective remedy. The drug is easy to use and ensures rapid death of tailed animals. And the instructions for using “Rat Death” will help you become familiar with the technology for exterminating rodents.

Rodents, moving around the apartment, spoil food, contaminate surfaces with their excrement, and can chew not only furniture, but also electrical wiring, which often leads to fires. But the greatest harm of tailed animals lies in their ability to endure extremely serious diseases, such as plague, hemorrhagic fever, leptospirosis, and rabies. Therefore, you should not hesitate to exterminate rats, because you are putting yourself and your family at serious risk.

If your pet is poisoned

It is necessary to carefully hide the rat poison “Rat Death” from cats and dogs. Reviews, however, suggest that even if you take all precautions, you may face disaster if your cat eats a poisoned mouse or baby rat. Of course, it will also have a destructive effect on his body. If you don't contact the veterinarian in a timely manner, you can lose your pet.

The poison leads to extensive internal bleeding and the blood stops clotting. Signs include blood in the urine and discolored gums. At the clinic, the doctor will determine the extent of the damage and most likely give a blood transfusion. Coagulability is restored by injections of vitamin K. Not everyone can be saved, but even in this case, it will take several more months to take vitamin K tablets.

When is it possible for a person to be poisoned by rat poison?

In Russia, no fatal cases of poisoning with rodent baits have been recorded over the past decades.
According to press reports, group poisonings of children occurred in 2007 and 2011. In all cases, the children received timely medical care, and the young patients fully recovered. Thus, in 2007, 15 children aged 3–4 years old were poisoned in Vladimir. Left unattended, they ate peas containing rat poison. In 2011, group poisoning of schoolchildren aged 6–11 years was recorded in the Tyumen region. The children also ate pickled seeds. There are reports of children biting off or swallowing rodent repellent pills in front of their parents. Can a person die from rat poison? In China, in 2002–2011, cases of intentional poisoning with rat poison, which is prohibited for sale, were recorded more than once. The attackers slipped it into the food. There are also known cases of poisoning from eating shish kebab (presumably from the meat of dead rats and foxes). In some cases, death occurred in about 10% of the number of people affected.

The degree of damage to the body and the possibility of death primarily depends on what substance is contained in the bait.
