Let's start with the fact that the biochemical processes occurring in the body of a wide variety of insect species are largely the same and are based on similar principles. And wasps are no exception here. Accordingly, an effective remedy for wasps is an insecticidal drug, which in most cases will be equally effective against other insects: cockroaches, ants, flies, etc.
In other words, most modern insecticides have a very wide spectrum of action, so you shouldn’t get too hung up on some “magic” remedy that would specifically kill wasps. Various advertising materials, online stores and their managers can quite seriously praise their drugs as powerful remedies against wasps and hornets (and often this is true), although at the same time the same drug is already in another store or even just in another section of the same store is positioned as an excellent remedy, for example, against cockroaches.
But what really should be emphasized when fighting wasps is the important nuances of the correct use of the appropriate insecticidal preparation:
- To achieve a 100% result if there is a nest on a summer cottage or the balcony of a city apartment, you need to be able to destroy both adult wasps, larvae, and the queen in the nest. In this case, fast-acting insecticides are good.
- If insects simply fly to the site to feed, they must, firstly, be attracted to the poisoned bait, and secondly, somehow force them to eat it. Accordingly, in this case it is better to buy a drug that does not have a strong repulsive odor, so as not to interrupt the smell of the bait.
- When using insecticidal agents against wasps in a garden or vegetable garden, you need to be able to do it safely both for the crop and for all inhabitants of the site.
Generally speaking, today buying a remedy for wasps is not a problem, since almost any hardware store offers a more or less wide range of various insecticidal preparations. However, many of them will not be the best choice due to a strong unpleasant odor, relatively low efficiency and danger to human health.
So let's take a look at what types of insect repellents exist today and which ones should be preferred when dealing with wasps.
Types of wasp remedies
Based on the method of application, anti-wasp agents can be divided into two types. The first type combines preparations intended for the preparation of poisoned baits and traps.
Such funds must meet the following requirements:
- do not have a strong odor;
- be highly toxic to wasps;
- do not pose a high danger to warm-blooded animals (people and animals).
The second group of drugs are means that you can quickly, reliably and safely kill all insects in the nest. The main requirements here:
- high speed of action of the drug on insects;
- ease of use (aerosol or spray);
- low toxicity to humans.
Depending on the form of release of the insecticidal preparation, there are:
- Concentrates for dilution and subsequent use in the form of a spray - some of these wasp control products are very effective and at the same time quite economical. Concentrates are well suited both for preparing poisoned baits and for treating wasp nests (after diluting the drug according to the instructions).
- Aerosols sold completely ready for use (in cans with sprayers). They are usually used to treat insect nests.
- Insecticidal agents in the form of powders that dissolve in water or are poured directly into the bait in order to obtain a treat that is poisonous to wasps. This group includes, for example, borax and boric acid - perhaps the most well-known folk remedies for wasps.
- Special gels with insecticides, which were originally created as good bait for insects (primarily for cockroaches and ants).
Let’s also note insect adhesives, to which wasps simply stick.
Poisoned baits for wasps can also be divided into two types: the first are intended for baiting exclusively adult insects, and the second, oddly enough, for larvae as well.
The action of baits of the first type is based on the taste preferences of adult individuals: they will never “pass” by available sweet syrups or fermented jam - in our case, poisoned with insecticides. Wasps willingly flock to them, and after feeding they quickly die.
The action of poisoned baits of the second type is not aimed at the immediate destruction of insects - they must first bring the poison to their nest and feed the larvae and the queen with a “delicacy”.
For example, meat treated with a suitable insecticidal preparation is laid out in a prominent place, and very soon attracts the first “victims”. The wasps carry the poisoned bait into the nest, where they diligently chew it themselves, and then feed it to the larvae, which leads to the death of both adult insects and brood. The queen of the wasp's nest also gets a treat.

Today, there are quite a few different insecticidal preparations suitable as remedies for wasps. Below we will talk about the most effective ones and those that have proven themselves well in practice.
Wasps in the country: how to get rid of them using folk remedies
Traps
Traps help get rid of individual flying wasps. You can buy them or make them yourself, hang them on trees or place them on the ground.
- A commercial trap is a small plastic container with a narrow opening. Sweet and/or poisoned bait is poured or placed inside. The wasps climb into the container and either cannot get out of the viscous liquid or die from the poison.
- Such traps are made independently from plastic or glass bottles, canisters or jars.
If you notice that wasps are systematically getting out of the trap you made, you can buy special wasp baits for the neck of bottles in stores.
Smoke from the fire
The method is suitable for destroying nests that hang on trees.
- Place the grill directly under the nest and light a fire in it.
- The smoke should reach the hive within 2-3 hours.
- Make sure the nest is empty.
- Take it off and burn it.
Do not use this method for hives placed on buildings and houses, they may burn.
There should be no one in the area while the fire is burning, as the wasps will initially get out of the nest and may bite. Water
Allows you to destroy hives hanging on trees.
- Take a thick bag.
- Pour water into it.
- Submerge the nest completely in water.
- Tie the handles on the branch above the nest.
- Leave the bag overnight.
- In the morning, remove it and destroy the hive.
The bag must be really tight so as not to tear from the weight of the water.
Instead, you can use food containers with a handle or a bucket. Select the container depending on the size of the nest - it must be completely immersed in water, otherwise the whole operation becomes meaningless. Boric acid
Boric acid can be added to the bait in traps as an alternative to insecticide, or the nest can be sprayed with water from a spray bottle and covered with powder.
Basil, thyme, rosemary
The smell of these plants repels wasps, so it makes sense to plant them next to fruits and berries, as well as near the entrance to the house, veranda, terrace, place where there is a deck chair, hammock or garden swing.
When wasps appear in the country, in search of methods to get rid of them using folk remedies, do not forget about your own safety. Do not use flammable liquids on the walls of buildings. Try to critically evaluate any method whose description you come across for its adequacy and complexity of execution. Calculate the possible outcomes of the situation in each case several steps ahead. Any operations with a wasp nest should be carried out only in a protective suit.
Get from OS
The drug Get is widely known as a powerful remedy for bedbugs and cockroaches, however, it also shows very good results as a means for killing wasps. Get is low-hazard to humans and, very importantly, has virtually no odor. This product can be used both to destroy the nest itself and as a poisonous substance in wasp baits.
To destroy the nest, Get is diluted in water in a ratio of 100 ml of the drug (one bottle) per 2 liters of liquid. Next, the product is poured into a large plastic bag, which is placed over the nest at night, and its neck is either tightly wrapped with tape (if the insect’s home is hanging on a tree branch), or glued to a flat surface (if the nest, for example, is suspended from the ceiling of a room) . You can remove the package only after a couple of days, when all the adults are already dead.
The nest, located in the ground or hollow of a tree, is simply filled with the same solution of Gete as in the previous case, and the exit is clogged with a cloth soaked in this solution.
To prepare a poisoned bait, Get from a bottle is added to beer, fermented jam or kvass in a ratio of 1:10, mixed, after which such bait with poison is poured into plastic bottles. You can also treat a piece of meat with an aqueous emulsion of the drug, which is placed near the wasp’s nest.
Due to the fact that Get is odorless, wasps absolutely calmly eat bait based on it. The drug has been repeatedly tested by many people in practice, and in general it can be characterized as a fairly effective poison against wasps.
Perhaps the main drawback of Get is its relatively high price. This drug costs approximately 800 rubles per 100 ml bottle and is sold mainly via the Internet.
Review
“Wasps appeared here at the beginning of spring, and then there were an awful lot of them. It turned out that they had built their nest near the toilet. Even then we didn’t know how to poison wasps, we went to our neighbors, and they recently poisoned cockroaches, and they were left with poison. We bred it, my husband took a sprayer and treated the entire nest in the evening. In the morning there was a whole carpet of dead wasps under him, but there were still living ones flying around. Then we finished them off too.”
Irina Vitalievna, Volgodonsk
About the life of wasps
“By winter, almost all wasps die, with the exception of fertilized females. These latter spend the winter under rocks and in other sheltered places. In early spring, these females wake up. They make nests, laying eggs in them, from which the larvae subsequently emerge. These larvae are fed by females. During the spring and summer, females produce worker wasps, which help the females expand their nests and raise new generations.
Thus, the very way of life of wasps shows us the best time to fight them - in the spring.”
Destroying nests on branches is actually safest in early spring - early summer, when there is a queen and several soldiers in the nest. Since mid-summer, this procedure carries a high degree of risk.
Boric acid as a component of poisoned baits
Boric acid is perhaps the most famous folk remedy for wasps. As part of various baits, it is also widely used as a poison against cockroaches and ants.
The main advantages of boric acid:
- fairly high toxicity towards insects;
- relative harmlessness to humans (previously, boric acid was even used to disinfect wounds);
- complete absence of odor;
- availability and low price (you can buy it at any pharmacy).
Typically, boric acid (as well as the Get product described above) is added to fermented jam or beer, after which the prepared bait is poured into a suitable container. You can also treat pieces of raw meat with a boric acid suspension and place them near wasp nests.
On a note
Borax is also a fairly well-known remedy for fighting wasps and other insects. By chemical nature, it is a sodium salt of boric acid, which has almost the same insecticidal properties as the acid itself.
Aerosols
The convenience of the form allows the use of a remedy against wasps, destroying an entire family in the nest. Droplets of insecticide are sprayed under pressure into the cells, leaving no chance for their inhabitants to survive.
Wasp spray Dr. Klaus
The aerosol is used to kill flying insects. The poison cypermethrin and tetramethrin penetrate the chitinous shell of the wasp and disrupt the conduction of nerve impulses. The insect dies from paralysis of all organs and systems.
Active substance -
- — cypermethrin 0.08%,
- - tetramethrin 0.15%,
- — piperonyl butoxide 0.75%.
Mode of application
If the room area is no more than 18 m2, spray the aerosol for no longer than 5 seconds, for a room with an area of 25-30 m2 - no more than 12 seconds. The stream is directed upward, as well as to places where insects accumulate (nests). It is advisable to close windows and doors while the room is being treated. The room should be ventilated 15 minutes after spraying for at least 30 minutes. If the insects are not completely destroyed, repeat the treatment the next day.
Benefits of use:
- ease of use;
- quick effect;
- economical packaging;
- range 3 m;
- affordable price.
The price in stores starts from 280 rubles for a 600 ml bottle.
Aerosol MOSQUITALL against wasp nests
The powerful pressure inside the cylinder allows you to obtain a directed jet up to 6 meters. This reduces the likelihood of being attacked by angry wasps at the time of processing. It contains a combination of two poisons: cypermethrin and bioallethrin. Acts as a paralytic with a quick effect.
Treatment of wasp nests can be carried out at a distance of 6 meters, thanks to the aerosol form of the drug, which eliminates contact with wasps. To maximize the effectiveness of the product, treatment should be carried out either early in the morning, before sunrise, or after sunset , when all the wasps are in the nest.
It should be noted:
- ease of use;
- efficiency;
- range 6 m;
- quick result.
Price in stores for a 950 g bottle starts from 390 rubles.
Fighting wasps with Dichlorvos
Dichlorvos was used against wasps back when it was practically the only means of salvation from household insects. This aerosol product is still used today, although the active ingredient of the drug has long since changed since Soviet times (now different brands of Dichlorvos use pyrethroids instead of organophosphorus substances).
It is also useful to read: Wasp venom: is it good for the human body and how does it work?
Dichlorvos is usually used to treat wasp nests. When choosing this product, you need to understand that you will have to approach the nest and spray it with a spray can more than once. Each treatment will lead to the death of a sufficiently large number of insects, and in a few days the entire aspen family can be destroyed.
When using Dichlorvos (as well as any other product), do not forget about precautions. The nest should be destroyed only at night, when insects are inactive. Be sure to wear thick clothing with sleeves, thick gloves and a beekeeper's mask.
Today you can buy Dichlorvos of various brands (Eco, Neo, Varan, etc.) in almost any hardware store. The drug is inexpensive, and in most cases one bottle is enough to destroy an average wasp nest.
You can replace Dichlorvos with other similar aerosol insecticidal preparations: Raptor for crawling insects, Raptor for moths, Combat, insect aerosol Clean House, etc.
Adamant bait against flies and wasps
Granular insecticide powder, may be white or yellowish in color. Sold in buckets and 400g packs. Refers to low-hazard substances. Contains the active ingredient thiamethoxam and sugar fillers.
To destroy wasps, you need to prepare special substrates. For them, you cannot use materials that will come into contact with food. Dry granules of the product are placed on substrates and laid out in an open area or room where wasps often appear. For 10 m² you need at least 3 baits weighing up to 2 g.
Karbofos
Karbofos is an insect repellent known for its effectiveness and low price, although it is a somewhat outdated remedy. It is sold in powder form or as a concentrate for preparing an aqueous emulsion. The latter form of this product is more convenient for preparing poisonous wasp compositions.
Karbofos is also famous for its very pungent and unpleasant odor. That is why it will not work in poisoned baits - the smell of the product will simply repel most insects.
The product can be used in two ways:
- dilute 100 ml of concentrated Karbofos solution with a liter of water, pour it into a large plastic bag, and then (in the dark) pull it onto the nest from below;
- or simply spray the nest with the resulting emulsion (in this case, the procedure sometimes has to be repeated more than once).
Types of wasps
People are especially often annoyed by two types of these striped insects:
- Domestic wasps are the most common individuals that build nests, live near humans and feed on nectar and fruits.
- Ground wasps - unlike domestic wasps, they are much more aggressive, they live underground, building complex catacombs. By type of feeding, representatives of this species are predators, so they eat small midges and insects. They also feed the offspring.
Did you know? Only females have a sting; males do not. Only fertilized individuals will survive the winter and hibernate; the rest die. Earthen rocks have a “reusable” sting.
Traps and drug Otos
Traps are widely known folk remedies for wasp control. They are usually made from simple plastic bottles: cut off the top and insert it, neck down, into the bottom half.
Jam, beer, mash or kvass is poured into the finished trap. To increase efficiency, you can add Get, boric acid, Chlorophos or any other suitable odorless insecticidal agent to the bait.
Such a trap can be used even without the top part - the wasps that fly out of it will still die. In the case of a standard design, the presence of an insecticide in the bait makes it much easier to shake the insects out of the bottle - by this time they are all already dead (otherwise, you might have to think about how to quickly destroy a hundred grams of live wasps in an overcrowded trap).
The drug Otos can also be used as a poisoned bait - insecticides and sugar with flavoring have already been added to it. The drug is sold in a ready-to-use form. There is only one problem - you can’t buy this wasp remedy in every store.
Sticky traps
The principle of action of glue traps is to immobilize or destroy wasps attracted by the smell of a sweet bait. Making the device at home is quite simple:
- a plastic bottle with a volume of 1.5 or 2 liters is cut into two equal parts;
- the upper part without a lid is inserted into the lower one so that there are no gaps through which a wasp could escape;
- first, the outer surface of the upper part is lubricated with thick vegetable oil or Vaseline;
- carefully pour sugar syrup or liquid jam through the hole, to which an insecticide is added if desired;
- leave the trap in the place where insects usually appear.
Specialized stores also have ready-made traps for wasps. They are somewhat more effective, but also more expensive. “Mukhoyar” and Help are especially effective.
Cockroach gels to combat wasps
You can also get rid of wasps in your home or summer cottage using cockroach gels. The peculiarity of insecticidal gels is that they represent both bait and poison, so to speak, in one bottle (however, for wasps such bait is not as attractive as for cockroaches and ants, but often it also works). In addition, gels are convenient to apply to almost any surface.
When applied to wasps, it is especially effective to apply gels to different places near their nest - this significantly increases the likelihood of insects detecting the product.
Almost any cockroach gel is suitable for killing wasps, for example, Absolute, Globol or Fas, which are spread either on a sheet of paper and laid out somewhere near the nest, or applied directly to a wall or tree trunk.
No. 3. Wasp trap “Argus Garden” (inserted into a bottle)
1. A popular and cheap trap, sold in a package with 2 devices (cost - 100 rubles). There are no chemicals or poisons, this is a gentle method of catching flies and wasps.
2. Must be used in a summer cottage. Insects get inside, after which they cannot get back out. First, prepare a 1.5-2 liter bottle.
3. Approximately halfway through, make 2 cross cuts opposite each other. Insert a trap into each of them. Add water so that it does not reach 5 cm from the inserts.
4. Make a few more devices in the same way, having previously prepared bottles and traps. Place them around the area where pests live and wait for the results.
Insect glue and traps based on it
And in conclusion, we note another effective type of wasp repellent - special adhesives, which are also used to catch cockroaches and ants. A piece of cardboard is smeared with glue, and a sweet bait is placed in the very center of the resulting sticky spot - for example, a piece of meat or watermelon. Wasps that flock to the treat naturally stick to the cardboard and can be destroyed without any problems.
You can use adhesives like Alt, Apcoll, Kapkan and some others against wasps: there is not much difference between them, they all have approximately the same effectiveness.
When using glue as a wasp repellent, there are two things to consider:
- it will take more than one day to fight insects, since all the inhabitants of the nest cannot be destroyed immediately by this method;
- In addition to wasps, other insects may also be caught in the glue trap.
In general, if wasps do not terrorize the inhabitants of the site and do not particularly harm it, it is not worth fighting single insects. It must be remembered that they bring great benefit by destroying agricultural pests, and therefore thoughtless destruction of wasps can lead to the fact that part of the crop is at risk. Be prudent and use appropriate remedies only when truly necessary.

Destruction of wasps in the country: help from the SES
Due to the danger of multiple stings, which is aggravated by a fairly common allergy to wasp venom, it is highly advisable to entrust the destruction of hives to SES specialists, especially if the nests are located high up, in hard-to-reach places or underground, where you cannot even assess their scale.
SES Dez Group, certified by Rospotrebnadzor, has been helping individuals, companies and government organizations effectively combat wasps for more than 7 years. By ordering services for removing wasp nests and baiting insects from Dez Group, you get a visible result - you get rid of the nest and the entire colony in one day, remain completely safe and receive all the necessary recommendations for preventing the reappearance of wasps specifically for your home or area .
Wasp repeller
This is a fake wasp's nest. According to the idea of the creators of the device, insects will not fly close to it, fearing an attack by a swarm of their kind defending their home. The electric dummy nest emits magnetic waves to repel wasps. However, these devices negatively affect human health, so it is better to use them in dachas, garages, etc.
- Weitech WK-0432. From a distance it looks very much like a wasp's nest. Its operating radius is 5 m. The device is very easy to use and install. The main thing is that it is non-toxic.
- AirComfort XJ-90 mosquito repeller. An electronic device that repels not only mosquitoes, but also wasps, hornets, and bees. Its range of action is 20-25 m.
- Mosquito-Away repeller. An electronic device that produces sound vibrations with a frequency of 6000 Hz. Range of action – 20 m.
- Ultrasonic wasp repeller OK-4 in the form of a keychain. You can carry it with you at all times. In addition to wasps, it repels mosquitoes, mosquitoes, ants, and bees.
The effectiveness of cockroach repellents based on Fipronil
The main problem with most insecticides is that insects quickly become accustomed to them. When used against cockroaches, fipronil is the active ingredient in many pesticides, resistance, i.e. does not cause stability.
Therefore, the drug can be used repeatedly. Most other pests quickly become accustomed to fipronil-based insecticides.
These substances have both systemic and contact activity against cockroaches. Their peculiarity is that they do not alarm them with smell and taste.
This makes it possible to use Fipronil against cockroaches in traps as food bait.
Insecticides of this class have a nerve-paralytic effect, blocking nerve impulses and disrupting the function of the nervous system of insects.
Death of a cockroach
Paralysis usually occurs within 8 hours after application. The protective effect lasts approximately 2 weeks.
Not only the insecticides themselves pose a danger to insects, but also the corpses of cockroaches, as well as their feces. Therefore, the effect of the toxic substance becomes hurricane and takes on a cascading effect. Typically, up to 95% of cockroaches that have ingested poison die within 3 days. This is very high efficiency.
Which attack defenses are right for you?
There are so many products and they are so different that each has its own pros, cons and limitations. We have selected effective devices for children, fragile girls, drivers, joggers and strong-willed men. Which is right for you?
Walking down dark, deserted streets where no one is likely to hear your personal alarm? – Pepper spray or a stun gun will work for you. Are you running in the park? – Spray cans have been specially created for athletes, which are conveniently attached to the hand and are always “ready”. Are you afraid of strangers in the elevator? – It’s unlikely that anyone will hear the siren; the spray can harm you too. But pepper gel spray is ideal for any enclosed space. If you are a driver, it would be wise to keep a stun gun or pepper spray in the glove compartment, and attach a special alarm to your keys. Are you afraid for the safety of your child? It is clear that a child will not be able to spray from a can, so the safest option for him is a personal alarm. Are you a fragile girl and are you afraid that you will not be able to quickly spray in the face of a tall big guy? – Press the button on your personal alarm. Are you riding a bicycle and encounter dogs along the way? – Take a small device with you - an ultrasonic repeller. Don’t have enough physical training to skillfully handle a shocker at close range? Put a keychain with keys in your pocket and it will always be at hand. Do you have a quick reaction and are you not afraid of anyone? Feel free to take the electric shock.
How to eliminate wasps
Nobody enjoys being around striped creatures. Bites cause allergies, swelling, and in some cases even death. Therefore, you need to study how the fight against wasps occurs, what causes them to change their place of residence and not come again. War can be waged with the help of insecticides, aerosols and a variety of folk recipes.
Effective insecticidal preparations
When fighting pests, you can use many modern insecticides. They are presented in a wide range in many gardening equipment stores, so you definitely won’t have any problems with choosing. You can get rid of wasps in your country house and in a private home using the following drugs:
- Mosquitall. This wasp spray will help get rid of the lion's share of insects in just one treatment. It should only be used in non-residential buildings or parts of the house: sheds, garages, attics, closets, etc. Ideal for spraying under the roof. After the procedure, an unpleasant odor spreads throughout the room, so spraying in residential buildings is not recommended.
- Will dare. This microencapsulated product does not have a pronounced odor. It has a destructive effect on flies, mosquitoes and wasps. This drug must be used to treat all places where the creatures live. The effect will last about 9 months.
- GET is a leader in the ranking of wasp insecticides. It is produced in the form of a whitish emulsion with a barely noticeable odor. Suitable for eliminating almost all types of unwanted small pests. Spray the aerosol on a wasp nest, and within 10 minutes the entire swarm will die.
Poisoned baits
In order to exterminate the maximum number of enemies, you can drip poison onto any delicacy, such as watermelon or melon rinds, jam or sweetened beer. Poison:
- Karbofos;
- Delta Zone;
- Lambda Zone, etc.
Make sure that the poison is inaccessible to animals and children.
How to get rid of a wasp's nest
If you decide to fight insects, then first of all you need to get rid of the wasp nest completely. Otherwise, those wasps that survive can easily restore the population.
For these insects, the nest is not only a place to sleep, but also the main area for replenishing their army. They form their house from the remains of solid food and a special substance similar to cement. The arthropods produce this mixture themselves.
If the den is not removed, the insects will continue to multiply there to incredible numbers. In this case, it will simply become unbearable to be around them. What is the best way to eliminate a wasp nest?
Of course, it will be easier to destroy a nest at any time, just not in the summer, when they are in the active stage. But in the cold season, wasps leave their homes, so the nest can be destroyed without any particular risk to health.
If insects are too busy in the summer, it is better to attack the nest at night when they are sleeping. It is dangerous to destroy their home during the daytime. They remember the offender for a long time, and will not allow him to live in peace.
Using water
You need to get very close to the nest and pour a large amount of boiling water on it. You can lift a bucket of cool water to their home and lower the nest into it. The difficulty of this method is that the wasp’s den can be very high or attached to a wall, making it difficult to climb under the roof (4 m high) with a bucket of water or a hot kettle.
Using the package
You can use another method that is no less effective. Place a plastic bag over the nest and attach it to the wall. Then we make a hole in the bag through which any insecticide is introduced, for example Corado, Aktara Dichlorvos. Close the hole for one hour, after which you can remove the bag and throw the nest to the ground.
Gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel, WD-40 and similar liquids
Any of these liquids are sprayed on a wasp nest - the insects should die, and then we can remove the nest without any problems. But the disadvantage of this method is that all these liquids are flammable, and the buildings are often wooden.
Repellers
It has been noticed that wasps do not settle in an area that is occupied by someone else's swarm. Therefore, gardeners came up with special repellers. You need to take a bag, preferably made of thick paper, and fill it with a light filling. Such a false nest is hung in the right place, where wasps will no longer settle. You can use ready-made designs that are sold in the store.
Is it possible to die from a wasp sting? Allergic reactions to bites
Well, and of course, the main danger posed by wasps is the possibility of attacking a person. Every year, hundreds of people around the world die from the bites of these insects. And thousands of thousands become their victims, who also have a hard time. Why should you be afraid of the bites of these small insects?
– Poisonous wasp stings. Insect venom, once in the human body, causes cells to release histamine into the blood, a substance that causes rash, itching and swelling. With repeated bites, skin inflammation can become especially dangerous. In addition, it is precisely because of the chemical composition of the venom that a wasp sting seems more painful than a bee sting. After all, the liquid found in the wasp sting, in addition to peptides, serotonin, histamine and amino acids, also contains acetylcholine, which brings a lot of pain.
- Quincke's edema. According to statistics, approximately 2% of the world's population has an allergic reaction to a wasp or bee sting. They can get deadly angioedema from a bite. Suffocation, pressure surges, allergic shock... it’s not for nothing that most often victims of wasps die from this physiological reaction.
– Symptoms of a wasp sting. In addition to Quincke's edema, allergy sufferers should be afraid of a number of other terrible symptoms. Myocardial ischemia, vascular collapse, hemiparesis, Henoch-Schönlein syndrome, central nervous system damage, bronchospasms - this is far from a complete list of what doctors diagnosed in allergy sufferers after encountering a couple of evil wasps! As a rule, at this moment their mouth becomes dry, their head begins to feel dizzy, nausea appears and their blood pressure rises...
– Paralysis and numbness. A series of wasp stings can cause real paralysis of a particular part of the body. The secret is in a neurotoxin, which, penetrating into the blood, has a specific effect on cells, causing a surge in pressure and numbness of the body. Now you know how dangerous wasps are. Fortunately, people have long learned to fight wasps. I wonder what advice supporters of popular natural methods can give us on this matter?
How to scare bees away from your area: methods
The list of funds is quite large, so choosing the right one will not be difficult. It should be borne in mind that the options for combating wild or “domestic” insects are slightly different due to the increased aggression of the latter. You can scare away bees from your site in one of the following ways:
- Construction of a continuous fence. The border between the plots must be equipped with a solid fence at least 2.5 m high. Insects will not rise higher and will stop flying into the neighboring plot.
- Moving. This method involves changing the location of the bee hive away from living quarters. It cannot be considered very effective, because the radius of flight of bees is quite wide.
- Fumigation (smoke). It is best to make a fire from spruce or pine wood. When they burn, they release substances the smell of which wasps cannot tolerate. The outdated method of fumigating premises is currently not used due to its fire hazard.
- Smell repellent. Bees or wasps cannot tolerate certain odors that serve as protection for humans. These could be plants planted on the site, essential oils, household products with a strong odor.
- Ultrasonic special repeller devices. The sound of an electronic device is heard by wasps or bees, but humans do not react to it. For honey bees, it is better to use a device with an electromagnetic emitter. Its effect is milder, so this bee repeller will not cause much harm to insects.
- Chemicals. This method is harsh and leads to the death of insects.
Attention! It is better to fight wasps at the end of winter, when the swarm size is minimal.
