Insecticide "Commander, VRK" for agriculture
The registrant and manufacturer of the Komandor group of drugs is the Russian company CJSC TPK Technoexport.
Compatibility
The Commander insecticide is compatible with most other similar chemicals (except those that have an alkaline reaction).
However, before preparing the tank mixture, it is recommended to mix a small amount of substances to check for compatibility. If, as a result, a chemical reaction does not occur with the formation of a precipitate or gas bubbles, accompanied by the release of heat, then the drugs are compatible.
Operating principle
According to the method of penetration, "Commander" is a contact - intestinal pesticide of systemic action.
The active substance imidacloprid, like other neonicotinoids, binds to the receptors of the nervous system of insect pests, as a result of which they develop paralysis and convulsions, leading to their death.
The effect is observed 3-5 days after treatment.
Imidacloprid exhibits a fairly high residual activity, the period of protective action is 14-28 days depending on the number of pests,
The principle of action of the drug
“Commander” works as a remedy for the Colorado potato beetle as follows.
The toxic effect lasts for a fairly long period due to several qualities that the drug has.
For your information! The poisonous substance can affect the Colorado potato beetle so systemically and for a long time that only a single treatment per season is required to eliminate the pests and save the crop.
Processing regulations
The working solution is prepared on the day of treatment by dissolving the required amount of concentrate in water (see dosages below). As a rule, a single treatment is carried out.

Testing of the drug “Commander+ for processing potato tubers”
“When I gobble up potatoes, I always remember the Indians: If only they hadn’t found potatoes, What would I have eaten with a big spoon?”
Preface
Who among us doesn't like potatoes? How many dishes can you prepare from it? “Well, consider it. — Fried, boiled, mashed potatoes, then french fries, potato pie. - What is this? — It is cooked with chips in oil. “I should have said so, otherwise it’s a bad thing.” So that's it? - No, not all, please. — Potato pies with meat, mushrooms, etc., potato pancakes, — mushroom sauce, tomato sauce, sour cream, etc., potato roll, casserole, potatoes stewed with prunes, potatoes stewed with bay leaves and pepper , boiled young potatoes with dill, shandy. »
Yes, it’s not for nothing that the proverb still exists: “Rus' without potatoes is like a party without an accordion.” And if in the city they buy potatoes in stores, in the villages they still plant their own, those that are “more fragrant and tastier than store-bought ones.” But not only people love potatoes, but insects too. There are few of them, but they are wearing vests; if they attack a potato plot, they will ruin everything, and the people will starve without a share of potatoes and shanezheks.
Our family is no exception, and despite our advanced age, we plant potatoes every May and fight insect pests all summer. And if the number of the Colorado potato beetle and its voracious larvae can somehow be reduced by spraying, then there is simply no escape from the wireworm, when there is continuous wheat grass around (the favorite delicacy of click beetles). Therefore, I was pleased to test the drug “Commander+ for processing potato tubers” from the Technoexport company, especially since the manufacturer promised protection against wireworms, mole crickets and the Colorado potato beetle.
Package
The preparation “Commander+ for the treatment of potato tubers” is packaged in a light cardboard box with a bright picture that attracts attention. On the back of the package is written the composition of the drug, purpose, expected result, brief instructions for preparing the working solution, and all this is duplicated with pictograms (pictures). The font is clear, quite large, the main points are highlighted in bold.
Content
The drug "Commander+" consists of two components: directly from the drug Komandor (insecticide) and the drug Energen (organo-mineral fertilizer), each with a capacity of 25 ml. The kit is designed for 1 liter of water, which can be used to process 100 kg of tubers. Each component is contained in a separate plastic bottle with identification labels.
Kit Contents
Instructions for use
As written above, instructions for use are available on the back of the package and are duplicated on the package insert, where several more points are added, namely:
1. First aid for poisoning 2. Hazard class (3 and 4, respectively) 3. Methods for neutralizing spilled pesticide 4. Methods for destroying the pesticide and its containers
The essence of testing
How to determine the effect of the drug and its functions declared by the manufacturer? It is clear as daylight that if you process all the potatoes, the result will not be entirely clear, because the potato yield, and the number of pests, will be related to weather conditions. Therefore, some of the potatoes must be processed, and some must be left unprocessed. BUT! The manufacturer claims that after treating potato tubers, its yield will increase by 22%, which means that it is necessary to compare the yield of potatoes treated with Komandor+ with potatoes treated with a similar insecticide, but without Energen. And such a drug was found. It is based, just like the drug Komandor+, imidacloprid. I won’t name the drug, I’ll just say that Commander+ is two to three times cheaper than the undisclosed drug.
Preparation of working solution
Pour the Commander suspension into a liter of clean water.
Commander
The water turns red. Mix.
Commander Pour the liquid from the second bottle. She is brown.
Energen
And mix the liquid again.
The water turns brown.
Mixture To tell the truth, the instructions on the packaging say the exact opposite order for mixing the drugs, but since the pictograms do not indicate a strict order for mixing the components, I think this does not matter much. Pour the mixture into a spray bottle
and process the potatoes from all sides, turning them over. This must be done with rubber gloves.
Processing After processing, according to the instructions, let the tubers lie for 3 hours (at the same time they will warm up better).
Now you can start planting. I won’t tell you the process of planting potatoes, I will only say that the potatoes were planted in the old-fashioned way, in the ground under a shovel.
So, to test the drug, three types of potatoes were planted: one part treated with the Komandor+ drug, the second part treated with a similar drug without the Energen component, and the third part - untreated potatoes.
Precautionary measures
Like any other pest control product, Komandor also requires careful handling. The drug has a third hazard class. The solution is prepared in a container that is not related to food preparation or is not used as a utensil.
Do not allow children or pets to spray. Spray in open areas when there is no wind.
Attention! Be sure to use gloves, a respirator, and wear clothes that you will use only for these purposes.
After spraying, you need to take a shower and wipe your hands and face with a disinfectant.
Do not forget to store the drug out of the reach of children.
Advantages and disadvantages of the drug
Any insecticide for treating vegetable crops before planting has its advantages and disadvantages. The drug Commander has more advantages, but there are also disadvantages, so before use it is better to familiarize yourself with them and determine whether the product is suitable.
Positive aspects of processing by Commander:
- The commander is easy to use and affordable for customers; it can be found in any specialized store;
- To protect a plant, one treatment procedure is enough to ensure its safety from Colorado potato attack for a long time;
- The action of the drug is aimed at exterminating not only the Colorado potato beetle, but also other insect pests;
- The drug is resistant to temperature changes and rain, as it partially penetrates into the plant itself, protecting it without harming it in any way;
- Insects have not yet developed immunity to the drug, so it is considered highly effective in exterminating Colorado.
Negative aspects of use:
- If you neglect precautions when spraying tubers, there is a risk of harm to health;
- The drug is harmful to bees.
Purpose and effect of the insecticide Komandor
Commander systemic insecticide is designed to combat leaf-eating and sucking pests.
The drug Commander is intended to combat various types of leaf-eating and sucking pests on potato, tomato, cucumber crops, as well as on flower crops.
"Commander" enters plants through leaves, stems and roots. Once in the body of the pest, the insecticide blocks the functioning of its nervous system, as a result of which the insect stops feeding, moving and ultimately dies.
The “Commander” drug remains on the surface of the treated crop, remaining toxic to new larvae emerging from old egg clutches.
Compatibility with other products
Commander is mixed with Epin (accelerates growth, increases immunity), Zircon (promotes the development of the root system), Ribav Extra (intensifies the growth of plants and roots), Maxim. These drugs accelerate the emergence of seedlings.
Attention! You cannot mix Commander with alkaline compounds.
Analogues of the drug are Bombardir Aqua (acts on the intestines of pests, destroying them), Anti-Colorado, Confidor Extra.
Safety precautions for use
The Commander remedy is very poisonous. To avoid unpleasant consequences, it is necessary to strictly use personal protective equipment:
- You need to wear special clothing, rubber gloves, rubber boots. Put a mask and respirator on your face.
- Do not use food containers to dilute the drug.
- When spraying, do not eat food or water, or smoke, so that the poison does not penetrate inside the body.
- At the end of the procedure, you should wash your hands with soap and rinse your mouth with water.
- Work clothes should be washed, boots and a respirator should be washed thoroughly.
- The remains of the Komandor solution should not be poured into a pond or soil, which is very dangerous for the soil and living organisms.
In case of contact with human skin, mucous membranes or respiratory tract, you must:
- Using a napkin, carefully blot the product from the surface of the skin using a soap solution.
- If the product gets into your eyes, wash them immediately with water.
- If you get into the respiratory tract, take a shower and go out into fresh air.
- If ingested, induce vomiting and drink plenty of water.
Attention!
If the condition worsens, you should seek medical help. The remedy for the Colorado potato beetle can be harmful to humans.
How to use Commander for processing potatoes and other crops
Today, Commander is considered the best remedy against the Colorado potato beetle. It was invented recently and, judging by the reviews, immediately became out of competition with other means of protection against this voracious insect.
Commander has a detrimental effect on beetles in a very short time, and this is almost independent of the weather. The effect it produces is simply fantastic. The beetles present in potato beds quickly die, and new uninvited guests may not appear until next year.
The Commander insecticide is toxic not only to harmful insects, but also to humans or domestic animals. Therefore, you need to use it against the Colorado potato beetle, strictly following the instructions. The manufacturer guarantees that if its recommendations are strictly followed, this drug will not cause any harm to people, but will completely clear the area of Colorado beetles.

In addition, the drug will protect roses, currants, cucumbers, watermelons, and conifers from pests. An analogue of this product is Confidor.
Precautions and storage conditions
Despite the fact that the drug Komandor is assigned a 3rd degree of danger, which means it is considered safe for people and animals, manufacturers recommend taking precautions when processing potato tubers:
- The drug should be dissolved in water in a special container in which food will not be cooked or used for storing food. It is better to purchase a separate bucket or basin for such purposes.
- Spraying should be carried out exclusively in closed clothing with long sleeves. An hour before treatment, you should stop smoking and eating; you should not smoke during treatment; you should not eat for 2 hours after planting the sprayed tubers.
- After landing, a change of protective clothing must be removed and the body washed well with soap and water.
- You should also limit access to tubers that dry out after spraying for children and pets (the same applies to bees, since the drug is harmful to them).
Good to know! If in any way the drug accidentally gets on the skin, it should be immediately washed off with a dry cloth. If the product gets into the respiratory system, treatment should be stopped and the victim should be taken to fresh air. Symptoms of drug poisoning during spraying should be a signal that the victim requires emergency medical care.
