A characteristic feature of the “Paranit” spray is its dual effect on pathogens. The spray suffocates and dries out lice both at the stage of an adult insect and at the stage of a larva or egg. Thanks to this, high efficiency was noted even with a single use.
This medical product does not contain neurotoxic insecticides, which is why insects do not develop resistance to the substances contained in the spray and there is no threat to human health. It is thanks to this that the effect of the drug, even in case of repeated use, remains consistently high and safe.
The results of numerous studies have repeatedly proven the effectiveness of using Paranit spray against lice and nits. Along with the product itself, each package of the medicine must contain detailed instructions for use indicating recommendations for using the product.
Paranit spray can only be bought at a pharmacy; its cost in Russia is approximately 750 rubles.
Composition and principle of operation of the spray
The drug is available in the form of a clear, colorless or yellowish, odorless, oily liquid. The spray is a ready-to-use form of medication.
The main active components of Paranit spray are dimethicone and isopar (mineral oil).
Thanks to the powerful combination of these active substances in the chemical composition of the drug, there is a pronounced inhibition of the functioning of the respiratory system of insects, which within 15 minutes leads to their mass death from suffocation. The ability of the listed components to envelop the body of the parasite with a dense film makes it impossible for it to absorb moisture. Thus, this medicinal product has a cross-mechanism of action on various life forms of lice. Therefore, complete cure of pediculosis is possible after a single use of the product.
Release form and composition of Paranit
“Paranite” is produced in the form of shampoo, lotion, spray, repellent, shampoo-conditioner, and under the name “Sensitive”. Depending on the form of production, the chemical composition may differ. The main active ingredients of each release form are listed below.
- Paranit shampoo: clearol (white mineral oil), foaming component, perfume composition;
- Lotion Paranit: dimethicone, isopar (mineral oil);
- Spray Paranit: isopar in combination with dimethicone;
- Repellent Paranit: essential oils, repellent IR3535, denatured ethyl alcohol;
- Shampoo-conditioner Paranit: clearol, oil extracts of anise, coconut and ylang-ylang plant;
- Paranitis Sensitive: oxyphthyrin and dimethicone.
The mechanism of action of all drugs comes down to the peculiarities of the influence of oils on the causative agent of head lice. They disrupt the functioning of the respiratory system of both mature parasites and immature individuals, which leads to the rapid death of insects and cures the disease with great efficiency. That is why, unlike a number of other medicines, lice cannot develop resistance to the active components of the drug.
Instructions for use of Paranit spray
The product is used as an external medicinal product for the purpose of effectively combating head lice and nits in adults and children, starting from the age of 3 years, for the purpose of disinsection by health workers or the population at home, for individual and mass prevention, both in single and in common cases.
Before using this product, it is necessary to carefully check all contacts or infected persons for the presence of various forms of parasites under sufficient lighting conditions. Particular care should be taken to examine the back of the head and temples, where there is often a pronounced accumulation of parasites. Persons who were found to have lice or their immature forms should be treated with the drug within one day.
The bottle of medicine should be kept ten centimeters away from the hair, sprayed only on dry hair until it is completely moisturized, and at the same time thoroughly rub the product into the area of the hair roots. For long and thick hair, application divided into strands is recommended. After the fifteen-minute exposure period has expired, the drug must be rinsed off well.
After that, the treated hair is combed with a special hair comb, located in the package, in order to remove dead parasites. Before combing each subsequent bunch, the comb must be thoroughly cleaned using cotton pads or balls.
In cases of relapse of the disease, the treatment procedure must be carried out again after one to one and a half weeks.
Taking into account the peculiarities of the parasite’s life cycle (the louse lives outside the host’s body for 24 hours), all the patient’s belongings, including bedding, must be washed in hot water.
In accordance with the data provided by the manufacturer, one bottle of the drug is on average enough for four uses. Consumption depends on the severity of parasite infestation, hair thickness and length.
Features of sprays against lice and nits
Sprays are the most modern and popular preparations for getting rid of lice. They have a watery-oily consistency, poured into a bottle with a spray nozzle. Various manufacturers make their products from a variety of components, the main active ingredient may be:
- two-phase dimethicone - a silicone compound that penetrates the respiratory system of insects, thereby causing suffocation;
- insecticides (permethrin or pyrethrin) - substances that disable the nervous system of parasites, resulting in paralysis and death;
- essential oils: lavender, anise, ylang-ylang, etc., the smell of which is unbearable for lice, as a result of which they die from suffocation.
Sprays are one of the most effective means in the fight against lice and nits
Sprays, along with shampoos and emulsions, are considered the most effective and popular drugs, but emulsions can only be purchased with a doctor's prescription, since they contain chemical toxins, and shampoos are quite difficult to use. In addition, sprays have the following advantages:
- ease of use;
- safety of constituent substances;
- fast efficiency;
- have few contraindications.
Applying the spray to your hair is quite difficult, because you need to cover every millimeter of the hair surface
The downside is the fact that it is harder for a spray to cover the entire surface of the hair and head, unlike, for example, shampoo.
How to wash off Paranit spray?
Paranit spray contains a lot of mineral oils, which makes it sometimes difficult to wash off. If necessary, you can wash your hair repeatedly. To make washing your hair easier, you can use a specially developed shampoo-conditioner of the same brand. Paranit in the form of a conditioner is used with good results as a means for daily hair care, after using regular cosmetic shampoo.
Sometimes the pharmacy sells a spray + shampoo set. But if you decide not to buy it, wash your hair several times with your regular shampoo; it won’t help right away.

Mode of application
Step #1: Check for lice. Using a thick comb, carefully, strand by strand, preferably in daylight, check the hair and head of each family member for lice. To prevent re-infestation, it is necessary to treat the hair and head of each family member who has lice at the same time.
- Test dry, pre-combed hair.
- Using a thick comb, carefully examine your hair, strand by strand.
- Check especially carefully the back of the head and the areas above the forehead and behind the ears.
- To prevent re-infection, it is necessary to wash the comb with warm soapy solution after each use.
Step #2: spray application. Holding the bottle at a distance of 10 cm, apply a sufficient amount of spray to a dry head to completely cover the hair and scalp. Massage your hair well from roots to ends, especially carefully in the neck area and behind the ears. Leave for 15 minutes. This is very important to achieve results.
100 ml is approximately enough for 4 applications, depending on hair length.
Step #3: Wash your hair. Without moisturizing your hair, apply regular shampoo and distribute thoroughly throughout your hair. Add water and rinse thoroughly with plenty of warm water (the water must be warm). Repeat the washing procedure with shampoo one more time.
Step No. 4: removal of lice and nits. Before drying your hair, comb out lice and nits.
1. Comb your hair thoroughly with a thick comb.
2. Divide the hair into four zones, parting either from the forehead to the back of the head, or from one ear to the other. If your hair is long, each part can be braided.
3. Comb each sector, strand by strand.
4. Try to comb each strand as close to the scalp as possible.
5. Remove each identified lice and/or nits using a comb.
6. Place the strands combed out of nits to one side.
7. To prevent re-infection, it is necessary to clean the comb with a soft cotton cloth after combing each strand. Always comb your hair from top to bottom.
Step No. 5: if necessary, repeat treatment after 7 days.
After 7 days, recheck your hair. If necessary, process again. The spray is absolutely safe even with repeated use, for example, when re-infected with lice from other people.
