Composition and active ingredient of the insecticide
The drug is available in the form of tablets packaged in bottles. Standard packages are 0.3 kg and 1 kg. Insecticide composition: aluminum phosphide, phosphine (affect the breathing of insect pests or rodents, causing paralysis of the nervous system). The peculiarity of the action of the product is gas activity.
Activation of Dakfosal tablets occurs under the influence of moisture in the air. It is the released phosphine gas that provokes paralysis of the spiral muscles of the pests and interrupts active breathing. For high effectiveness of the drug, an adequate amount of oxygen is required, otherwise low mortality of insects is observed.
In what cases is it used?
The product is actively used for disinfestation of empty storage facilities, warehouses, elevators, in which grain is stored in bags or in bulk under films. The drug has a wide range of effects on pests (insecticide, rodenticide, acaricide). "Dakfosal" is used to treat granaries in order to destroy granary weevils, grain borers, tobacco beetles, mill moths, grain moths, flour beetles, mites and other pests.
In open spaces, the product is used to protect areas from moles and other diggers. Moreover, as a rodenticide, the substance is produced in the form of stickers. To destroy the animals, it is enough to stick “Dakfosal-anti-mole” sticks into each mole-hole entrance during the day.
Against moles
Moles and burrowing rodents are in some ways similar to ants. In the wild, they are often useful, but they can be carriers of pathogens of dangerous diseases, for example. plague On cultivated areas and productive natural lands, they are certainly harmful. Molehills on pastures are generally a natural disaster - livestock break their legs in them, after which they often turn out to be suitable only for slaughter. If a dairy cow or an elite breed bull or, say, a prize racehorse is injured, the losses are irreparable.
However, the migratory ability of shrews is incomparably less than that of terrestrial animals, and their habitats are more or less isolated from the outside air. Therefore, Dakfosal is used in private farms to destroy or expel moles. Hamsters, gophers, gerbils, marmots and rats are more mobile - they manage to escape the poison and often return resistant to it, and the harm from moles in private household plots is greater.
A number of RuNet manuals advise simply putting a Dakfosal tablet into a wormhole and covering it with earth. Well, we sincerely wish their authors not to end up on land cultivated according to their method, and this is not a figure of speech. As a rodenticide, Dakfosal is produced in a special formulation called Antikrot. Its simplest variety is stickers stuck into the ground, pos. And in Fig. But in order for anti-mole stickers to drive away or destroy the animal for sure, you need to track down its living chamber through molehills, which is by no means easy. Then it is enough during the day (the mole is a nocturnal animal) to stick a stick into each move closer to the “bedroom”, and the job is done.
Stickers and smoke bomb from moles
Dakfosal Antikrot in stickers is safe for humans, unless you peel off the wrapper to the core with the drug, but it is not effective enough. A smoke bomb with rodenticide (items 1-3) is sure to work from any molehill, but there are known cases of people being poisoned by it. According to the instructions, the saber must be inserted into the hole before the fuse burns out, but who reads these instructions? And I want to make sure that the smoke is gone.
Soil electrofumigator for expelling or destroying burrowing animals
More expensive, but quite safe to use, is a soil electrofumigator (see figure on the right). Devices powered by lithium cells and solar batteries are produced. The latter are the safest: electronics regulate the release of chemical agents in accordance with the daily rhythm of the animal’s life, which is opposite to ours. The high cost of the electric fumigator compared to stickers is compensated by the fact that any anti-mole tablets (including Dakfosal insecticide) in the required quantity can be placed in the capsule of the device; usually up to 9 pcs. One electric fumigator, stuck into any molehill, provides protection from diggers for an area of up to 20 acres throughout the season. In addition, there are models of devices that can be configured to destroy or expel a mole. The latter is not only more humane, but also saves on a not so cheap drug.
Mechanism of action
The “functioning” of the drug can be divided into two stages. The active ingredient – aluminum phosphide – does not have pesticide properties. However, when it reacts with moisture in the air, it forms toxic phosphine gas. To cause severe poisoning, it is enough to inhale air for 10-15 minutes in which the concentration of the toxic substance is 1 mg / cubic meter. meter.

It should be noted that the gas has an unpleasant odor, and no symptoms of poisoning are observed in the first few minutes. The toxic effect of phosphine lasts 1-24 hours. If the room is ventilated for a long time, the gas breaks down into harmless substances.
Composition and effect of the drug
The composition of Dakfosal is, in principle, no different from that developed back in IG Farben: 56% (560 g/kg) aluminum phosphide, an admixture of ammonium carbamate, purified paraffin and a powdered solid binder. The mixture is pressed into tablets (preparative form TAB). The release of phosphine begins 1-4 hours after removing the tablet from the package, depending on the air temperature, and continues up to 5 days, depending on it. One tablet releases 1 g of gas - this value needs to be known to calculate the dose of the drug and exposure time, see below.
Note: granules twice as heavy as tablets are also sold for professional use. One granule releases 2 g of phosphine.
Paraffin tablets contain a passivator (moderator) of a chemical reaction, stabilizing the gas flow rate over time. The role of ammonium carbamate is twofold. Firstly, in air in the presence of moisture it begins to decompose simultaneously with aluminum phosphide and approx. at the same speed according to the scheme:
NH4(NH2CO2) –> 2NH3 + CO2
The concentration of a phosphine flash depends inversely on the oxygen concentration in the atmosphere. CO2 and ammonia reduce the mass fraction of oxygen in the area around the active tablet, and the concentration of phosphine does not reach a flash value, and then the gases will disperse, and the mixture itself will remain fire and explosion-proof.
Secondly, ammonium carbamate is also a danger signal. One tablet of Dakfosal can poison from 100 to 1000 cubic meters. m of air, depending on the carbon dioxide content in it, see above. The smell of ammonia cannot be confused with anything, it is unbearable, and, when used in Dakfosal, it is clearly felt when the concentration of phosphine in the same place is approx. 10 times smaller. In absolute terms, this is 0.1-1 mg/cu. m, which, if precautions are taken (see below), allows us to exclude fatal poisoning.
Note: if you find yourself in a room where disinfestation was being carried out and ammonia hits your nose, it means that Dakfosal or its analogue was used there. In this case, you have no more than 2-3 minutes (it’s better to take up to 1 minute) to get out into clean air, breathe properly and immediately go to a toxicologist. The degree of phosphine poisoning very much depends on the time of exposure to chemical agents (exposure), and secondary symptoms of poisoning can appear after a day or three.

In case of drug poisoning, grade 3 severity is diagnosed. Chronic poisoning, which causes cirrhosis of the liver, blood diseases, blurred vision and speech disorders, is also very dangerous.
Dakfosal for moles, 3 tablets.
Dakfosal Antikrot gas tablets are a new generation drug.
To quickly eliminate moles from your site
Upon contact with air, the drug releases a heavy gas that penetrates into the burrows and passages of pests.
Dakfosal is a fumigation insecticide that is used to disinfect and destroy various types of garden pests. Highly effective for exterminating moles, rats, mice, as well as flying insects: potato fly, granary weevil, flour beetle, Suriname flour beetle, grain moth, mill moth, grain grinder, coffee weevil, tobacco beetle, mites.
Application:
To fight moles:
— Up to 3 tablets are placed per mole move at the maximum possible depth.
— The hole is closed with turf and covered tightly with earth.
— As a result of a chemical reaction with the environment, the drug begins to release poisonous gas, spreading through the passages created by the moles.
Fumigation (fumigation) allows you to fill all hard-to-reach places that cannot be reached in any other way. After all, pests do not sit in the open (up to a certain point); they usually hide in cracks and their burrows.
Phosphine gas, released during the reaction when interacting with oxygen and moisture, penetrates the respiratory tract of moles and, by its action, disrupts the respiratory system, blocking the flow of oxygen. As a result, the death of moles (mice, rats, insects) is inevitable. When the temperature rises from 15°C, the toxic effect increases, and when the temperature decreases, it weakens.
— If there are a large number of mole burrows in the area, you should use the maximum possible number of tablets (treat all burrows with gas).
For rodents: 1-2 tablets per hole, moisten the ground with water and sprinkle the exit.
For grains (destruction of weevils): 3 tablets per 1 ton of grain, then cover with film.
For potatoes (potato fly): 3 tablets per 100 kg of potatoes, then also cover with film.
The product is also successfully used in storage areas:
seeds of cereal crops intended for sowing, as well as forage.
flour.
legumes.
potatoes and root vegetables.
silo
other agricultural products that need to be protected from pests.
Storage conditions: without access to air (do not open the ampoule!) in a cool, dark place.
Take all tablets at one time. When you open a flask with an insecticide, an instant reaction of the substance with the environment occurs, which cannot be canceled or suspended.
D.V. (active ingredient) - aluminum phosphide (570 g/kg).
The product is more effective at ambient temperatures above 10 degrees C.
When working, use personal protective equipment: respirator, gloves, avoid contact of the drug with the skin and mucous membranes.
Shelf life: unlimited (subject to storage conditions).
Packing - 3 pieces.
Storage rules
Given the high toxicity of the drug, it is strictly prohibited to store tablets in a warehouse or premises simultaneously with food, household or household items. Storage temperature range from -20 °C to +35 °C. The warehouse must be equipped with supply and exhaust ventilation. It is not allowed to place nitrogen fertilizers and Dakfosal in the same room.
To avoid the harmful effects of the drug on the human body or chronic poisoning, it is advisable to use the drug immediately after purchase.
What can be replaced?
A popular analogue of the drug is the product “Selfos”, which is also intended for protection against pests of grain storage facilities. Advantages of the drug: average toxicity, destruction of rodents and various types of insect pests, does not accumulate in grain, low consumption. To process 1 ton of grain, you will need three tablets.
The use of special preparations greatly simplifies the protection of grain crops from pests and ensures reliable destruction of rodents and moles. However, the toxicity of the products and the need to comply with safety requirements must be taken into account.
