An unpleasant neighborhood: how to remove nits from a child?

What is lice?

Pediculosis is one of the most common human parasitic diseases. It is caused by lice, small insects that feed exclusively on human blood. Therefore, it is impossible to get lice from animals.

The most common way of transmitting head lice is through direct close contact with an infected person. Insects cannot jump or fly. Head lice have the ability to camouflage well. Depending on the color of the host's hair, they can be light brown, brown or almost black. The insects prefer warm environments and are often found behind the ears or on the back of the head.

To maintain life, lice must feed on blood. Without a food source or human body, they die within 48 hours. Females lay up to 10 eggs per day, trying to attach nits to the hair closer to the scalp. Nits are so small that they can easily be mistaken for dandruff. But unlike skin scales, they are firmly attached to the hair shafts

First generation of anti-pediculosis drugs

These drugs are based on permethrin, a toxic insecticide that has a paralyzing effect on insects. It also poses some danger to humans, therefore it is not recommended for use in children under 6 months, pregnant and lactating women. In addition, permethrin-based preparations cause the gradual development of resistance in lice and nits. According to statistics, about $74 of parasites today are already resistant to the effects of permethrin, so such drugs show low effectiveness.

Shaving head

If you think about the question of how to remove lice at home, the decision to cut your hair comes naturally. Indeed, no hair - no problem. However, this method has its drawbacks. Even the shortest hair is enough for lice to function normally. Therefore, to be guaranteed to get rid of lice, you will not have to cut your hair, but rather shave. If you lack experience, doing this yourself without damaging your scalp is almost impossible. And going to a hairdresser with tenants in your hair is inconvenient. In addition, cutting your hair bald can cause stress for a child, especially a girl. So it is better to use less radical methods, and leave shaving as a method of getting rid of pubic lice.

Combing

One of the simplest and most effective ways to combat parasites. However, it requires time and patience. To get rid of lice using the combing method, follow these recommendations:

  • • Make your child sit comfortably. Let him watch his favorite program or play on his tablet.
  • • Comb your hair thoroughly with a regular comb.
  • • Apply a sufficient amount of conditioner to dry hair.
  • • Comb again with a regular comb. Then take a fine-tooth comb and gradually comb your hair strand by strand, each time removing any remaining conditioner from the comb with a napkin.
  • • Rinse your child's hair with water.
  • • Repeat the procedure every 3-4 days. Treatment can be stopped if within 3 days you do not find any live lice or nits.

Vinegar and olive oil

One of the most popular recipes for treating head lice with folk remedies. White wine vinegar helps dissolve the chitin that covers the body of lice. It can be used in combination with olive oil. The recipe is attractive because all the ingredients can be found at home.

You will need: 100 ml white wine vinegar and 5 ml oil Heat the vinegar to a comfortable temperature and apply it to damp hair. Massage your scalp and hair, distributing the vinegar evenly throughout the strands. Tie your hair into a bun or ponytail and cover it with a plastic cap. After an hour, remove the cap and rinse your hair with warm water. Heat olive oil to a comfortable temperature, apply to hair and cover with a cap. Leave the oil for another hour. Comb your hair thoroughly to remove lice and nits. Wash your hair with regular shampoo.

How to use combs

Using a comb is a great way to get rid of nits in your hair. Often, plastic combs for removing lice are included with the preparations.

To effectively get rid of parasites, you need to use it correctly. To do this you need:

  • wash your hair with shampoo and dry;
  • tie your hair into a ponytail on one side;
  • pull out a small strand from the tail;
  • comb the strand from roots to ends.

The procedure should be performed over a white sheet or paper. Finally, get rid of the nits that have been combed out. The combing procedure should be carried out several times a day.

Garlic

The strong smell of garlic repels lice, however, before removing lice and nits using this method, keep in mind that the smell can remain on the hair for quite a long time. Grind 8-10 cloves of garlic to a paste and add 2-3 tablespoons of lemon juice. Apply the mixture to the scalp and hair, leave for 30 minutes, then rinse with warm water and shampoo

You can also make a thick paste by mixing garlic with a little olive or vegetable oil, lemon juice, green tea and a little shampoo or conditioner. Apply the mixture generously to your hair and cover with plastic wrap. Leave it for half an hour and then wash your hair with shampoo. This procedure must be repeated once a week for two months. Don't forget to comb out dead parasites and nits.

Kerosene for lice

Pharmacy remedies for nits

There are a number of preparations based on mineral and essential oils. Their effect is to create a film on the head, which leads to oxygen deficiency in insects and their suffocation. But they only work on lice; if you want to remove nits, they are unlikely to help you.

Paranit and LIceGuard

This is not to say that they are absolutely useless, especially if you are allergic to insecticides, they remain the only possible option.

But when using them, you will have to carry out additional therapy : regular hair combing, the use of other drugs and folk remedies.

Veda and Nittfor

The same can be said for permethrin. This is an insecticide that attacks the nervous system of insects and leads to respiratory depression.

But in nits, the nervous system is not yet formed, and oxygen exchange is rare and superficial.

Therefore, it is impossible to cause paralysis and suffocate them - this insecticide turns out to be practically useless against nits .

Moreover, by itself it is incapable of even penetrating the shell of the egg in order to have any effect on it. Because of this, permethrin-based products such as Veda and Nittfor are not the best choice.

Organophosphorus preparations

What product kills nits? The surest way to kill nits is to use organophosphorus preparations. They contain the most powerful insecticides for household use, among which the well-known dichlorvos can be distinguished.

But dichlorvos is relatively toxic to the human body , and when applied to the skin it can cause serious irritation. Therefore, only adults with a strong and healthy body should take risks with its use. If this risk passes without negative consequences, then the nits will really be destroyed in the bud.

Couple plus

A group of more gentle, but effective drugs for nits includes Para Plus spray. It contains three different insecticides, including permethrin, which kills adult insects, and karbofos, which has sufficient penetrating power to kill the insides of nits.

Therefore, Para Plus is a self-sufficient means for removing nits from hair.

The drug eradicates all causes and factors for the development of pediculosis . It is also very convenient to apply: just spray the aerosol over the entire length of your hair, leave it on for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

Pedilin

This remedy for nits can be purchased at the pharmacy in the form of shampoo.

The main active ingredient is karbofos.

It is not as highly effective as Para Plus, but with accompanying procedures it is also capable of reliably eradicating nits.

Hygia

This is a permethrin-based shampoo, but it can be classified as a product that helps in the fight against nits. Why?

It's all about the presence of acetic acid in the composition, which corrodes the sticky secretion of the eggs and makes them easily detached from the hair.

Also, the positive aspects of the drug include the presence of a comb included (albeit not of very high quality) and a low price.

Boric ointment

This is one of the cheapest remedies against nits and lice.

It's all about boric acid, which is a substance that corrodes both the chitin of adult insects and the protective shell of eggs. The downside of cheapness and effectiveness is the danger of the drug and the possibility of side effects.

Therefore, use boric ointment with great care. Application: apply to dry hair along its entire length, leave for half an hour, rinse with warm water and shampoo.

The course of treatment with pharmaceutical drugs for nits is no more than two to three weeks . If the drugs are used correctly, this time should be more than enough to completely eradicate lice and nits.

Kerosene

Kerosene vapor penetrates the respiratory tract of lice, and its chemical composition has a destructive effect on their chitinous membrane. This allows the parasites to die. Nits are more difficult to deal with. Kerosene does not penetrate their dense shell. But it helps dissolve the glue that attaches lice eggs to the hair.

Kerosene is dangerous not only for lice, but also for people, so when processing it is necessary to strictly follow the recipe and rules for handling flammable substances! You should not use this method to get rid of lice in children.

Mix any vegetable oil (sunflower, olive, corn, flaxseed) and kerosene in equal proportions. Apply the mixture to dry hair with a hair coloring brush. Then cover your hair with plastic wrap. Make sure that drops of the mixture do not leak out of the polyethylene and do not get into your eyes. Cover your head with a towel. Leave the mixture for 1.5 hours.

Kerosene is also useful in getting rid of linen lice. Contaminated clothing is placed in a large basin and filled with water and kerosene mixed in the proportion: 1 liter of kerosene per 10 liters of water. The laundry should lie in the solution for at least 6 hours, and preferably 12. After treatment, the laundry should be thoroughly washed and ironed with steam. Particular attention should be paid to ironing seams, as this is a favorite place for linen lice.

How to remove lice correctly

To combat parasites, you can use several methods: mechanical and chemical. Each of them is accompanied by a number of specific actions.

For the mechanical method of removing lice, special hair combs are used. Using this type of treatment you need to do the following:

  • wash your hair under hot water;
  • spread white material on the table;
  • dry your hair with a hair dryer using a hot stream of air;
  • comb out nits with a comb twice a day.

If an adult or child has long hair, then this method is considered very labor-intensive and requires patience. Great for those people who are hypersensitive to chemicals.

The chemical method of treatment is distinguished by its simplicity. Before purchasing a chemical product, it is advisable to consult a doctor. The package with the medicinal mixture contains detailed instructions that must be strictly followed.

Still, there are a few mandatory rules:

  1. Consult a qualified healthcare practitioner before use.
  2. It is contraindicated to use the product more than three times.
  3. After applying the drug, begin combing out the nits.
  4. Use gloves when applying the medicine.

It should be said that after detecting small parasites, the first step is to wash bed linen, clothes and towels. Carry out washing at a temperature of about 90 degrees. It is known that necrosis of lice occurs after a few hours at a temperature of 55 degrees, nits - 60 degrees or more.

During the winter season, you can take your clothes out onto the balcony or outside. Combs should be rinsed under hot water. Such actions will help protect against the occurrence of parasites and also speed up the treatment process.

Remove lice

Gentle methods

The use of traditional methods is considered the most gentle methods in the treatment of head lice. Such methods are quite accessible to every parent.

The main methods include the use of various herbal infusions and oils:

  1. Burdock decoction. The plant is poured with very hot water, then left to infuse. Afterwards use it as a hair rinse.
  2. Decoction of fragrant rue. Pour boiling water over a glass of rue and leave until completely cooled. Wash your hair with shampoo, and use the cooled broth as a rinse, do not rinse. Wrap your head in a bag and a towel. You can walk with this decoction throughout the day.
  3. Dust soap (shampoo). After washing your hair, wrap your hair with a bag and a towel for 20 minutes.
  4. Bergamot, lavender and eucalyptus oils. Pour a mixture of oils (10% each) into vegetable oil and rub into the skin. Wrap in film and towel. Leave it on all night.
  5. Vegetable oil. Oil your hair, wrap it in film and leave for several hours. After the procedure, start combing.

The use of natural products causes minimal harm to the child’s hair, but the effectiveness of the treatment is also inferior to pharmaceutical drugs. The use of gentle mixtures does not provide a high guarantee of complete elimination of parasites.

Remove lice

Intensive methods

More intensive treatments can be used for parasites. They are characterized by a high concentration of constituent substances.

The most well-known methods include:

  1. Vodka compress. You need to apply vodka to your hair, then put on a plastic bag (cap), and wrap your head with a towel. Keep the compress for no more than 25 minutes.
  2. Treatment with kerosene. Kerosene is mixed with oil (vegetable) in proportions of 1:10. Apply to skin. You should not overexpose the solution, otherwise allergic reactions may occur.
  3. Using vinegar. Dilute vinegar with water (1:2) and apply to hair. Wrap in a towel and cellophane film and leave for no more than an hour.

You should be very careful when using intensive methods, as there is a high risk of side effects: redness, itching, allergic reactions.

Remove lice

Pharmacy products

Medications are quite variable. For treatment, shampoos, creams, and gels are made based on synthetic insecticides: permethrin, phenothrin. They have a toxic effect on parasites, as they are poisons.

Permethrin is considered the most common base for medications. It significantly affects the nervous system of insects and causes paralysis. Phenothrin is a synthetic neurotoxic product that also causes the death of lice and nits.

Pharmacy products for better getting rid of lice include:

Nix is a special cream (1%), which includes a comb for combing out nits. Apply to semi-dry hair and leave for about ten minutes. After seven days it requires reapplication.

Nyx – special cream

Parasidosis is a shampoo that should be left on the hair for 5 minutes. Reapply every other day. Contraindicated for children under two and a half years of age.

Parasidosis - shampoo

Veda is a shampoo, after applying which you should cover your head with a towel or scarf. Be sure to wash off with soap or regular shampoo. May be used by pregnant women after consulting a doctor.

Veda - shampoo

Avicin is a concentrate suitable for all types of lice. Before application, dilute with water (1:100 ml). Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with shampoo.

Avicin

You should be especially careful when using any pharmaceutical products, since all of them have side effects: dizziness, redness, itching. Before starting treatment, you should consult a qualified physician.

Remove lice

Dichlorvos

Dichlorvos affects lice in two ways: it enters their respiratory tract and penetrates the body through the chitinous membrane. Nits are protected by a very dense shell, so there is no 100% guarantee that dichlorvos will kill them. As a rule, treatment must be repeated after 5-7 days.

Dichlorvos is a toxic agent, therefore, if you resort to it, it would be to treat lice in adults. Children's skin is much thinner, which increases the risk of poisoning. Treatment with dichlorvos can be carried out in two ways:

  • • Short hair. Cover your forehead, ears and neck with a strip of cotton fabric. Spray dichlorvos on your hair, holding the can at a distance of 30 cm. Do not forget that the treatment should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. Cover your head with plastic wrap. Leave for 30-40 minutes, then wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo. Rinse your hair with water and a small amount of vinegar. Dry and comb your hair with a fine comb.
  • • Long hair. Take a thick plastic bag and spray dichlorvos into it (2-3 pumps). Close the bag and shake so that the product is evenly distributed along its walls. Place the bag on your head and leave for an hour. Wash your hair with shampoo, rinse with water and vinegar, dry and comb out dead insects and nits.

Recipes for folk remedies for adults

Folk remedies for head lice have proven effective. Many homemade formulations are as effective as pharmaceutical drugs, but are cheaper.

For pediculosis pubis, it is not advisable to use folk remedies to treat such a delicate area. A dermatologist or dermatovenerologist will prescribe a suitable pharmaceutical composition for treating the pubic area and surrounding areas.

If linen lice are detected, you will have to boil the bed linen, freeze or steam the clothes. Thorough cleaning of closets, washing shelves with vinegar, and treating a bed or sofa with a steam generator will help get rid of parasites.

Folk remedies recommended for the fight against head lice and nits in humans

Before use, it is important to consider whether there is a tendency to allergies, wounds, or scratches on the head. For the expectant mother, we need formulations with a delicate effect, without irritating components and a strong odor.

Proven home remedies against lice and nits are inexpensive and effective.

Black cumin

The seeds of the plant have a pungent odor. When combined with apple cider vinegar, it makes an excellent treatment for head lice. Grind the seeds, take 2 tbsp. l. natural remedy, add the same amount of vinegar, stir. Rub the mixture onto your strands, go out into the sun for 20 minutes, then rinse your hair. Duration of treatment – 7 days.

A mixture of pomegranate juice and mint leaves

An effective composition with a bright aroma and noticeable sourness destroys adult nits and softens the sticky secretion with which nits stick to the hair shafts.

It’s easy to prepare the product: boil a glass of natural juice, add 6-7 mint leaves, boil for 3 minutes, remove from the stove, close the container with a lid. Strain the cooled product, apply to hair, comb, put on cellophane and a towel as usual. Rinse off after 20 minutes, comb out parasites and nits.

Kerosene

The product is used less frequently than in years past, but some people still consider this product to be the best for lice control. You will need a high-quality, purified composition.

A simple technique will help you avoid irritation of the skin and drying out the strands: mix 1 part kerosene with 10 parts vegetable oil. Apply the mixture to dirty strands, wrap your hair under cellophane, wrap it in a scarf, and leave overnight. In the morning, wash your hair with shampoo and comb out the pests.

Ointment made from white bird cherry and angelica root

The folk recipe has been known for a long time, but the ingredients for the mixture are difficult to obtain. If you are lucky enough to get herbal ingredients, you can safely prepare an effective ointment for head lice.

Grind the natural raw materials in a blender (take the same amount of bird cherry and angelica root), add the same amount of rendered pork fat (warmed up), mix, transfer to a glass jar, and refrigerate. After 3-4 days the ointment is ready. Rub the product into the roots, wrap your head, rinse off after half an hour, and remove any remaining product with shampoo.

Tar soap

To combat blood-sucking parasites, you will need a liquid product or a bar of soap with a tar content of 10% or more. Wet your hair, lather it, be sure to achieve plenty of foam, wait 10 minutes so that the parasites and nits die (suffocate), rinse the strands well. After the procedure, dry the strands, carefully comb out nits and dead insects with a fine-toothed comb.

To enhance the effect, alternate shampoo with antiparasitic agents. If you have a dry type of hair, you should not use tar soap: the product actively washes away sebum, and irritation often occurs.

Decoction of elecampane root

A proven product with good results. It’s easy to prepare an infusion of elecampane root: chop the roots and above-ground part of the plant, take 3 tablespoons, pour in a liter of boiling water, close the container. After an hour, the remedy against pediculosis is ready.

To destroy adult insects and nits, treat every day for a week. Wet your hair generously with the infusion, put on a shower cap or plastic bag, insulate it with a towel, and rinse after half an hour. Combing out nits is a mandatory step after each procedure.

Hellebore and wild rosemary ointment

Finely chop the wild rosemary herb and hellebore roots (take 2 tablespoons each). Melt unsalted lard, take 6 tablespoons, combine with vegetable ingredients. Place the product in a clay pot, place in the oven over low heat, and simmer for 3-4 hours, without bringing to a boil.

Strain the finished product while warm through a sieve, rub into the roots every day for a week. After applying the composition, be sure to wrap your head (cellophane + terry towel), rinse off the product after 30 minutes with shampoo. Carefully comb out the nits each time; in case of severe head lice, remove lice eggs manually.

Tar soap for lice

Tar soap has long been known as a simple and effective anti-pediculosis remedy. To get rid of parasites, thoroughly soap your hair, cover your head with plastic wrap and wait 15-30 minutes. After this, wash your hair thoroughly with plain water. While your head is still wet, comb your hair with a fine-tooth comb. Repeat the procedure 3 days in a row. After this, twice a week until the lice disappear completely.

Some parents claim that using tar soap or shampoo once a week helps protect children from lice infestation. Others wash their child’s hair with tar soap as a precaution if a kindergarten or school becomes aware of an outbreak of head lice.

Hydrogen peroxide

Peroxide is another inexpensive remedy that helps get rid of lice quickly. This substance damages the chitinous exoskeleton of insects and enters their respiratory tract. Hydrogen peroxide is also effective against nits. It cannot destroy the protective shell of the egg, but it destroys the secretion (glue) that lice use to attach nits to the hair. Removing nits from hair after treatment with peroxide becomes much easier.

Before removing lice using hydrogen peroxide, keep in mind that it lightens the hair. And the longer it acts on the hair, the lighter it becomes. In addition, peroxide negatively affects the hair structure, so this method is not suitable for people who have recently dyed or permed their hair, as well as for dry and brittle hair.

To treat head lice, you need to mix 3% peroxide with water in a ratio of one to three. When treating adults, the solution can be left on the hair for up to 30-40 minutes; when treating a child, up to 20 minutes.

A new word in the fight against pediculosis

Dimethicone and mineral oil have long been used not only in the production of cosmetics, but also in pharmacology. In the first case, they give creams, serums, and balms a plastic consistency, make them more comfortable to apply, retain moisture and create an impenetrable protective film. Dimethicone is the active ingredient in anticolic drugs for infants.

Substances that are safe and so useful for humans turned out to be lethal for the insects that parasitize them. Lice breathe through the surface of the body - there are 4 pairs of spiracles on the sides through which air penetrates. Nits, firmly fixed to the hair with cementing glue-saliva, receive only air from the outside; their supply of nutrients is located under the shell of the egg. Dimethicone and mineral oil, which became the basis of PARANIT pediculicidal products, are easily distributed throughout the hair and tightly clog the respiratory passages of lice and nits. Deprived of the ability to breathe, they quickly die. For the product to be as effective as possible, it must be applied generously, thoroughly moisturizing each strand.

The active ingredient of PARANIT preparations is safe for humans. "PARANIT Sensitive" is suitable for children under 3 years of age, pregnant and lactating women. Anti-pediculosis products are available in various forms: shampoo, spray, lotion. Due to their oily consistency, they are easily distributed throughout the hair and do not drip. To make rinsing easier, you can use PARANIT shampoo-conditioner.

Another advantage of PARANIT products based on dimethicone is the lack of resistance in lice and nits. The drug acts physically, blocking the access of oxygen, so insects cannot adapt to it and develop resistance. Even repeated use of drugs helps to eliminate parasites just as effectively without harm to health and hair.

Pediculosis is not scary if you don’t have folk remedies for lice on hand, but a modern, safe “PARANIT” that can easily get rid of uninvited guests, preserve your hair and help prevent the appearance of parasites in other family members.

Preventing lice infestation

Unfortunately, there is no way that would guarantee you 100% protection against lice. Lice don't care about your age, gender, social status or how often you wash your hair. But there are methods. Which will help minimize the risk of infection. Explain to your child that it is a good idea to avoid close head-to-head contact with peers, especially if there is a head lice outbreak at school. Once every 1-2 weeks, carefully examine your daughter or son’s head for lice and nits. If you suspect lice, comb your hair with a fine-tooth comb.

How to remove nits from a child?

If you carefully checked the child’s head and found accumulations of nits there, then first of all, after that, you should check yourself and check the rest of the family members.

In everyday household contacts, lice can infect other people with tremendous speed. Next, it’s worth correctly explaining to the child the essence of his illness: he will probably be nervous, since lice causes very unpleasant itching.

But you shouldn’t be nervous, as stress aggravates the situation, reducing the body’s immunity. Tell your child that nothing bad happened and everything will be fine.

How to eliminate nits from a child? The easiest and safest way to remove nits is to shave the child's head. But this is only suitable for very young boys; if your son has gone to school, then he is unlikely to allow you to take such radical measures, and you should absolutely not carry out such things by force - it is harmful to the psyche.

So in most cases, you will have to consider other methods: shampoos, sprays, various folk remedies suitable for children. Let's look at this diversity in more detail.

Getting rid of lice quickly, effectively and safely

The main difficulty that many parents face when trying to cure their children from head lice is that the remedies that previously helped no longer work. This happens because lice develop resistance (resistance) to insecticide-based products. The problem of so-called super lice is very relevant even in developed countries.

“Paranite” is a new generation pediculicidal agent, the mechanism of action of which is fundamentally different from insecticidal drugs. Paranit contains two main substances - dimethicone and mineral oils. Both of these substances are actively used in the cosmetic and pharmaceutical industries. They are added to creams, shampoos, lotions, makeup removers, as well as topical skin treatments. But they turned out to be deadly for lice.

Mineral oil and dimethicone tightly clog the spiracles - the holes through which insects breathe and get rid of excess fluid. As a result, the parasites die from lack of oxygen and imbalance of water balance.

"Paranit Sensitive" can be used to treat head lice even in small children from 1 year of age and pregnant women. Since it has a physical rather than a chemical effect on lice, insects do not develop resistance to the drug. Therefore, it can be used repeatedly without loss of effectiveness.

Medicine in the fight against lice and nits

Pharmaceutical drugs are divided into two types:

  • Insecticidal. These are poisons, for example, Permethrin. The effect is on the central nervous system of the insect, then death occurs.
  • Medicines based on Dimethicone. This is a mechanical effect. The parasites' airways become blocked and die.

Insecticidal preparations are not approved for children under 5 years of age. Since the poisons in the composition belong to hazard class 3-4. Known for the Knicks and Medifox. The spray is applied only to dry hair. Shampoo - for wet use. You can disinfest combs, headgear, and clothing by soaking them in a solution of “NOK” or other insecticidal liquid.

Preparations based on Demitikon are less toxic. The risk of poisoning is minimized, this also applies to side effects. You apply the composition to the head, armpits, pubic area, leave the product there for 40 - 60 minutes, then rinse with water.

Nittiform is popular as a cream. Additionally, it is designed to get rid of scabies parasites and fleas.

Lice and nits are not transmitted from animals. This is a popular myth.

A good modern remedy is Nyuda. Parasites die from suffocation. From an aerosol we can recommend “Pair - Plus”. It works quickly and is suitable for the whole family. If there is an infected child in the house, parents should also be vigilant. Mom can dye her hair with a dye containing a high content of hydrogen peroxide. Lice don't like her. Cosmetic hairspray is also an unpleasant habitat for them. You can spray your head heavily and put on a bag or cap overnight.

Tablets are less effective, but you can resort to this method as a complex therapy. The principle of action is blood. Under the influence of tablets, it becomes unattractive to sucking organisms. A common drug in this series is Butadione.

Shampoos perform two functions: they take care of hair and eliminate lice. This is a great way to get rid of nits on long hair. Remedies are used, for example, Hygia. As for shampoos, this is a budget option based on Permethrin. Comb - comb included. Lys Guard helps detach the larvae. It has a natural composition, which means it is suitable for small family members.

Mechanical way of fighting

More suitable for children, especially infants. A radical method is a haircut. Boys will have no problems with this, especially in the heat. Getting rid of hair completely eliminates the signs of head lice, all that remains is to clean the furniture and things.

An individual can live without food for about 10 days. Therefore, it is better to cover things that cannot be boiled or washed in plastic bags, for example, toys.

The next method is combing out nits. For this purpose, pharmacies sell special combs. They are metal with thin and frequent teeth. If you don’t want to spend money on a purchase, buy a regular comb (plastic or wooden) with similar teeth. Brushing may take up to two weeks until all nits are destroyed. The first step is to get rid of the females with drugs. Then rinse your hair with a product that softens the adhesive component. And finally, comb your hair with a comb.

When a nit gets stuck between the teeth, it needs to be wiped off on a towel.

If your hair is long, you can cut it to the maximum comfortable length. It’s easier to put it in a ponytail, take one strand at a time and comb it out gradually. To make the larvae easier to separate, use anise oil. The Fulmarks comb contains a liquid product for better lice removal. There are electric combs that have a double effect. In addition to combing, they use electric discharge to affect the vital activity of insects. The comb is easy to clean. This could be a regular product you use to wash dishes or an unusable toothbrush. To make parasitic individuals visible, you can buy a magnifying glass and a bright lamp. If the procedure is performed on a child, try to distract him with a cartoon. It is better to conduct an “exorcism” session for insects in the bathroom so that you can wash them down the drain.

If you ask - how to get rid of nits in 20 minutes? This is only possible with a haircut. In other cases, you will have to use different artillery. If you managed to defeat lice, read how to prevent re-infection.
