Veda and Nittfor

The same can be said for permethrin. This is an insecticide that attacks the nervous system of insects and leads to respiratory depression.

But in nits, the nervous system is not yet formed, and oxygen exchange is rare and superficial.

Therefore, it is impossible to cause paralysis and suffocate them - this insecticide turns out to be practically useless against nits .

Moreover, by itself it is incapable of even penetrating the shell of the egg in order to have any effect on it. Because of this, permethrin-based products such as Veda and Nittfor are not the best choice.

Organophosphorus preparations

What product kills nits? The surest way to kill nits is to use organophosphorus preparations. They contain the most powerful insecticides for household use, among which the well-known dichlorvos can be distinguished.

But dichlorvos is relatively toxic to the human body , and when applied to the skin it can cause serious irritation. Therefore, only adults with a strong and healthy body should take risks with its use. If this risk passes without negative consequences, then the nits will really be destroyed in the bud.

Couple plus

A group of more gentle, but effective drugs for nits includes Para Plus spray. It contains three different insecticides, including permethrin, which kills adult insects, and karbofos, which has sufficient penetrating power to kill the insides of nits.

Therefore, Para Plus is a self-sufficient means for removing nits from hair.

The drug eradicates all causes and factors for the development of pediculosis . It is also very convenient to apply: just spray the aerosol over the entire length of your hair, leave it on for 10 minutes, and then rinse with warm water.

Pedilin

This remedy for nits can be purchased at the pharmacy in the form of shampoo.

The main active ingredient is karbofos.

It is not as highly effective as Para Plus, but with accompanying procedures it is also capable of reliably eradicating nits.

Hygia

This is a permethrin-based shampoo, but it can be classified as a product that helps in the fight against nits. Why?

It's all about the presence of acetic acid in the composition, which corrodes the sticky secretion of the eggs and makes them easily detached from the hair.

Also, the positive aspects of the drug include the presence of a comb included (albeit not of very high quality) and a low price.

Boric ointment

This is one of the cheapest remedies against nits and lice.

It's all about boric acid, which is a substance that corrodes both the chitin of adult insects and the protective shell of eggs. The downside of cheapness and effectiveness is the danger of the drug and the possibility of side effects.

Kerosene

Kerosene vapor penetrates the respiratory tract of lice, and its chemical composition has a destructive effect on their chitinous membrane. This allows the parasites to die. Nits are more difficult to deal with. Kerosene does not penetrate their dense shell. But it helps dissolve the glue that attaches lice eggs to the hair.

Kerosene is dangerous not only for lice, but also for people, so when processing it is necessary to strictly follow the recipe and rules for handling flammable substances! You should not use this method to get rid of lice in children.

Mix any vegetable oil (sunflower, olive, corn, flaxseed) and kerosene in equal proportions. Apply the mixture to dry hair with a hair coloring brush. Then cover your hair with plastic wrap. Make sure that drops of the mixture do not leak out of the polyethylene and do not get into your eyes. Cover your head with a towel. Leave the mixture for 1.5 hours.

Kerosene is also useful in getting rid of linen lice. How to remove lice correctly

To combat parasites, you can use several methods: mechanical and chemical. Each of them is accompanied by a number of specific actions.

For the mechanical method of removing lice, special hair combs are used. Using this type of treatment you need to do the following:

wash your hair under hot water;
spread white material on the table;
dry your hair with a hair dryer using a hot stream of air;
comb out nits with a comb twice a day.

If an adult or child has long hair, then this method is considered very labor-intensive and requires patience. Great for those people who are hypersensitive to chemicals.

The chemical method of treatment is distinguished by its simplicity. Before purchasing a chemical product, it is advisable to consult a doctor. The package with the medicinal mixture contains detailed instructions that must be strictly followed.

Decoction of fragrant rue. Pour boiling water over a glass of rue and leave until completely cooled. Wash your hair with shampoo, and use the cooled broth as a rinse, do not rinse. Wrap your head in a bag and a towel. You can walk with this decoction throughout the day.
Dust soap (shampoo). After washing your hair, wrap your hair with a bag and a towel for 20 minutes.
Bergamot, lavender and eucalyptus oils. Pour a mixture of oils (10% each) into vegetable oil and rub into the skin. Wrap in film and towel. Leave it on all night.
Vegetable oil. Oil your hair, wrap it in film and leave for several hours. After the procedure, start combing.

The use of natural products causes minimal harm to the child’s hair, but the effectiveness of the treatment is also inferior to pharmaceutical drugs. The use of gentle mixtures does not provide a high guarantee of complete elimination of parasites.

Intensive methods

More intensive treatments can be used for parasites. They are characterized by a high concentration of constituent substances.

The most well-known methods include:

Vodka compress. You need to apply vodka to your hair, then put on a plastic bag (cap), and wrap your head with a towel. Keep the compress for no more than 25 minutes.
Treatment with kerosene. Kerosene is mixed with oil (vegetable) in proportions of 1:10. Apply to skin. You should not overexpose the solution, otherwise allergic reactions may occur.
Using vinegar. Dilute vinegar with water (1:2) and apply to hair. Wrap in a towel and cellophane film and leave for no more than an hour.

You should be very careful when using intensive methods, as there is a high risk of side effects: redness, itching, allergic reactions.

Pharmacy products

Medications are quite variable. For treatment, shampoos, creams, and gels are made based on synthetic insecticides: permethrin, phenothrin. They have a toxic effect on parasites, as they are poisons.

Permethrin is considered the most common base for medications. It significantly affects the nervous system of insects and causes paralysis. Phenothrin is a synthetic neurotoxic product that also causes the death of lice and nits.

Pharmacy products for better getting rid of lice include:

Nix is a special cream (1%), which includes a comb for combing out nits. Apply to semi-dry hair and leave for about ten minutes. After seven days it requires reapplication.

Parasidosis is a shampoo that should be left on the hair for 5 minutes. Reapply every other day. Contraindicated for children under two and a half years of age.

Veda is a shampoo, after applying which you should cover your head with a towel or scarf. Be sure to wash off with soap or regular shampoo. May be used by pregnant women after consulting a doctor.

Avicin is a concentrate suitable for all types of lice. Before application, dilute with water (1:100 ml). Leave for 15 minutes, then rinse with shampoo.

Dichlorvos

Dichlorvos affects lice in two ways: it enters their respiratory tract and penetrates the body through the chitinous membrane. Nits are protected by a very dense shell, so there is no 100% guarantee that dichlorvos will kill them. As a rule, treatment must be repeated after 5-7 days.

Dichlorvos is a toxic agent, therefore, if you resort to it, it would be to treat lice in adults. Children's skin is much thinner, which increases the risk of poisoning. Treatment with dichlorvos can be carried out in two ways:

• Short hair. Cover your forehead, ears and neck with a strip of cotton fabric. Spray dichlorvos on your hair, holding the can at a distance of 30 cm. Do not forget that the treatment should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. Cover your head with plastic wrap. Leave for 30-40 minutes, then wash your hair thoroughly with shampoo. Black cumin

Grind the seeds, take 2 tbsp. l. natural remedy, add the same amount of vinegar, stir. Rub the mixture onto your strands, go out into the sun for 20 minutes, then rinse your hair. A mixture of pomegranate juice and mint leaves

Ointment made from white bird cherry and angelica root

Tar soap for lice

Hydrogen peroxide

Peroxide is another inexpensive remedy that helps get rid of lice quickly. This substance damages the chitinous exoskeleton of insects and enters their respiratory tract. Hydrogen peroxide is also effective against nits. It cannot destroy the protective shell of the egg, but it destroys the secretion (glue) that lice use to attach nits to the hair. Removing nits from hair after treatment with peroxide becomes much easier.

Before removing lice using hydrogen peroxide, keep in mind that it lightens the hair. And the longer it acts on the hair, the lighter it becomes. In addition, peroxide negatively affects the hair structure, so this method is not suitable for people who have recently dyed or permed their hair, as well as for dry and brittle hair.

To treat head lice, you need to mix 3% peroxide with water in a ratio of one to three. When treating adults, the solution can be left on the hair for up to 30-40 minutes; when treating a child, up to 20 minutes.
