Generator circuit for repelling rodents

  • The electrical circuit of the generator includes an ultrasonic vibration generator (C3, C4, DD1.3, DD1.4, R3, R4), a low frequency modulator (C1, C4, DD1.4, R1, R2), a power amplifier using transistors VT1- VT3, emitter, which uses a high-frequency loudspeaker 4GDV-1.
  • The generator emits frequency-modulated oscillations in the range of 15....40 kHz. The frequency can be adjusted by resistor R4, the modulation frequency is adjusted by resistor R2 within 2...10 Hz.
  • If you set contact SB1 in such a way that in case of unauthorized entry into the room this contact closes, the generator can work like a security alarm siren, since it begins to emit frequency modulation in the range of 1000...2000 Hz.
  • It is important that when working for a long time in one frequency range, rats get used to it, so you need to change the radiation parameters with resistors R2-R4 2-3 times a week. Or connect capacitor C4 to a piece of wire that creates an additional capacitance that changes with changes in temperature and humidity. Then the frequency will change randomly.

Cockroach repellers

All electronic devices can be divided into the following types:

  • ultrasonic;
  • magnetic resonance.

The main advantage of electronic repellers is their ease of use - they need to be plugged into an outlet (install rechargeable or regular batteries), the distance from the floor should be within 20-40 cm.

They are more expensive than conventional anti-cockroach products; the average cost can range from 500 to 950 rubles. More expensive devices are designed for large premises (warehouses, storage facilities); their use in apartments or houses is not recommended.

Electromagnetic

Under the influence of electromagnetic pulses, pests hide as far as possible from the source. The electronic cockroach repeller can be used for as long as desired - it does not harm the health of people and animals.

The electronic repellent for cockroaches in the apartment must be plugged into an outlet; the repeller operates at low-wave frequencies, which affect the central nervous system of cockroaches and other insects.

Advantages:

  • compact dimensions;
  • no requirements for creating special storage conditions;
  • efficiency;
  • absence of dead insects;
  • safety.

The optimal temperature for using an electromagnetic repeller is considered to be from 0 to 40 degrees; to enhance the effect, you can turn on several devices at the same time.

The disadvantages include the rather high cost.

Ultrasonic

An ultrasonic cockroach repeller emits high-frequency waves, inaudible to humans, which are extremely unpleasant for cockroaches.

The effect of ultrasonic waves on insects has a scientific basis - mosquitoes that hear sounds similar to those made by bats leave the place where it occurs in fear.

Ultrasound also helps against cockroaches; this principle is used in the production of devices. Their operation is based on an integrated circuit, which includes trigger and multivibrator components, resulting in the formation of antiphase and symmetrical signals at the terminals.

A sound source is connected to these outputs, which is a piezoceramic emitter. According to reviews, the device helps get rid of not only cockroaches, but also midges, house ants, etc.

Advantages of development:

  • ease of operation;
  • non-toxic, safe for people and animals;
  • the ability to carry out processing in the presence of people;
  • large range of action - the effect of a device installed in one room extends to the entire apartment;
  • extended spectrum of action - not only cockroaches die, but also other insects.

Despite the large number of advantages, an ultrasonic cockroach trap also has disadvantages :

  • quite high cost;
  • questionable safety.

An ultrasound device for cockroaches is not recommended for use during pregnancy - the unborn child hears ultrasound, the effect of which is comparable to the roar of a passing underground train.

Riddex pest repelling aid

The principle of operation of the repeller is based on connecting to the network; after connecting, the wiring turns into a repeller , under the influence of which not only cockroaches, but also fleas, ants, rats, and mice scatter.

The device is also equipped with flashing LEDs, which have a negative effect on pests. The area of influence of the riddex pest repelling aid repeller reaches 200 sq.m., unlike other models, it does not need to be installed in several rooms.

The anti-cockroach device must be plugged in and kept online until the insects disappear completely; in the future, it is recommended to be turned on occasionally for preventive purposes.

Pests begin to show concern after the first week, mice and rats disappear after 14-20 days, insects - after 7-12 weeks. The device is suitable for use in residential and public premises; the repeller is absolutely safe for health and does not affect the operation of electrical equipment.

Operating principle

]ultrasonic repellers[/anchor] claim that the devices act on insects thanks to special sound frequencies. The human ear cannot detect them, but the sounds repel mosquitoes.

Interesting!

A mosquito repellent device produces sound waves similar to the flight vibrations of a dragonfly, a bat, or repeats the sounds of a male mosquito. Females pose a particular danger to humans. They feed on blood to give birth to new offspring. After fertilization, females try to avoid meeting males, so the squeak of a mosquito scares them away.

  • A simple version of the dog repeller (Fig. 1) is assembled on one digital chip (DD1) and five transistors (VT1~VT5). An infrasonic generator is made using logic elements DD1.1, DD1.2, resistors R1, R2 and capacitors Cl, C2. It is a symmetrical multivibrator that produces rectangular pulses with a frequency of 1.5 Hz.
  • The second symmetrical multivibrator, built on elements DD1.3, DD1.4, resistors R6, R7 and capacitors C5, C6, is an ultrasonic generator, the frequency of rectangular pulses of which is 20 kHz and periodically (every 0.66 sec) increases by 4 times. A smooth periodic “rise” of the ultrasonic frequency upward is performed by a part of the circuit containing resistors R3-R5, transistor VT1, capacitor SZ, diodes VD1.VD2.
  • The rectangular ultrasonic waves created at output pins 10 and 11 of the DD1 microcircuit have low power. They are amplified in power by a push-pull bridge amplifier made using VT2-VT5 transistors. The emitter load of this amplifier is a piezoceramic emitter BF1.
  • Ultrasonic vibrations (modulated by infrasonic ones) are excited in it after pressing the SB1 button, which performs the “on” function.
  • The power circuit of the DD1 microcircuit is protected from accidental “reversal of polarity” of the GB1 battery by the VD3 diode, and filter capacitors C4 and C7 provide transmission of high-frequency and low-frequency oscillations through the power circuit.
  • When you use the ACT-10 car piezo siren instead of the SP-1 piezo emitter, the range of the repeller will increase significantly.
  • The GB1 battery can be assembled from six to ten galvanic cells (316), D-0.25 batteries, or you can use a ready-made 12-volt battery L1028 or a 9-volt “Krona” or “Corundum”.
  • The K561LA7 microcircuit can be replaced with 564LA7, K176LA7, K1561LA7.
  • Diodes VD1-VD3 - any small-sized silicon, transistor VT1 - any low-power silicon with a base current gain of at least 30.
  • Transistors VT2, VT4 and VT3, VT5 can be replaced with any of the KT3102 and KT3107 series.

When assembling a dog repeller, you can not use microcircuits at all, then the number of transistors will increase to nine. Fig. 2 shows a diagram of the second version of the repeller, more precisely, part of it (the rest is according to Fig. 1), in which the infrasonic generator consists of transistors VT6, VT7, capacitors C1, C2 and resistors R1-R4, and the ultrasonic generator consists of transistors VT8 , VT9, capacitors C4, C5 and resistors R7-R10. The ultrasonic frequency “stealing” circuit has resistors R5, R6, capacitor SZ, transistor VT1 and diodes VDI, VD2.

So that when setting up, which mainly consists of selecting the resistance of resistors R3 (Fig. 1) or R5 (Fig. 2), you can determine its operation by ear, for a while two capacitors with a capacity of at least 6800 are connected by soldering in parallel with capacitors C4 and C5 pf each.

Powerful ultrasonic emitter

Greetings, homemade radio amateurs!

Ultrasound has found wide application in people's lives - for example, powerful sources of ultrasonic vibrations are used to crush stones, piezoelectric ultrasonic transducers are used in non-destructive testing to identify defects, and numerous insect repellers work on the basis of ultrasound, because insects are sensitive to this range, and people are sensitive to this range. No. Some people argue that although ultrasound cannot be heard with the ears, it has an effect on a person, and it is quite detrimental, for example, it causes a sharp headache, ringing in the ears, dizziness and simply deterioration in well-being. How true this is can be verified by assembling a fairly powerful ultrasonic gun, which is precisely designed to create ultrasonic vibrations with a frequency from 20 to 40 kHz of sufficiently high amplitude. Such a gun can be used, for example, to quickly disperse swarms of mosquitoes, which are so annoying during the warm season. For assembly, you will need the main link of the structure - the high-frequency speaker itself, which will convert electric current into mechanical vibrations. The author suggests using high-frequency speakers from domestic acoustic systems, for example, models 5GDV-6, 10GDV-4, 10GDV-6 and others are suitable; the greater their power, the better. Nowadays, many Soviet acoustic systems are breaking down due to their rather advanced age, but they still have working speakers that can still be used. In order for the speaker to start “singing”, emitting ultrasound, it is necessary to assemble the generator circuit presented below.

The role of the generator itself is played by the CD4049 logic chip, or its analogue HEF4049, the chip consists of 6 inverters. You can also use the domestic K561LN2, but in this case you will need to reconsider the pinout. The generator frequency is adjustable in the range from 20 kHz - the very end of the audible range, up to 40 kHz, for adjustment there is a 22 kOhm variable resistor in the circuit. By changing its value, you can expand or narrow the frequency adjustment range. The signal from the generator is supplied to the H-bridge, the transistors of which are switched in a special way, allowing maximum amplitude to be supplied to the speaker with a low supply voltage - this increases the efficiency of the ultrasonic gun. Two NPN transistors and yes PNP are used, please note that in the diagram their emitters are mixed up with collectors, the correct diagram for connecting the transistors is presented below. You can use any sufficiently powerful bipolar transistors here, it is advisable to choose specimens with a higher gain. For example, domestic KT816 and KT817, or their imported analogues, are suitable. According to the diagram, a high-frequency speaker is connected to the emitters of the transistors, and the polarity of its connection does not matter. The supply voltage of the circuit is 5-10V, the higher the voltage, the greater the amplitude of sound vibrations will be, however, if the power is increased excessively, there is a risk of burning the speaker, especially if it is not designed for high power. The power source must supply a current of at least 1A, and it is better to take it with a reserve of 2 or 3A. In order for the ultrasonic gun to be autonomous, it is best to use a battery for power supply - for example, 2 lithium-ion batteries connected in series, or one battery, but in combination with a pulse boost converter. The use of a boost converter, by the way, will make it easy to regulate the supply voltage of the circuit; moreover, it will not decrease when the battery is discharged. For power supply, it is important to install an electrolytic capacitor with a capacity of at least 1000 µF, and it would also be a good idea to bypass it with a small ceramic capacitor of 0.1 - 1 µF. For mounting the circuit and installing the high-frequency speaker, the body of a large flashlight is ideally suited - there is just enough space in the body to place batteries or accumulators, and the end of the flashlight has an extension into which the speaker will fit perfectly. To turn the ultrasonic gun on and off, you can use the standard flashlight switch, and it would also be a good idea to add an indication of the on state on a small LED. Thus, the result is an interesting and quite multifunctional device - with its help it will be possible to conduct various experiments with ultrasonic vibrations. Happy building! Source

DIY glue trap

You will need a cardboard box or a regular sheet. It is more convenient to use the box, since after

Making a trap for cockroaches with your own hands

filling the trap with cockroaches, you will have to pick it up and throw it away.

The main component is double-sided tape or RaTrap glue. The glue does not dry completely and a layer of sticky mass is created on the surface.

The bottom of the box is covered with tape or RaTrap is applied. An edible bait with a strong aromatic odor is placed in the corners, in the center of the surface. It is desirable that there is an egg there. Leftover salad after a feast is fine.

The box is placed in the place where the pests were noticed.

Using the principle of an adhesive mass, a trap is made from a jar. A piece of bread soaked in kefir, an egg, and a little beer are placed at the bottom of a glass jar. The outside is wrapped in paper so that you can crawl in easily. The inside walls are coated with Vaseline and vegetable oil. Cockroaches climb for food, but cannot get out.

The trap is set for 2–3 days, then changed. During this time, the oil on the walls of the jar dries out.

Another option is to use double-sided tape on baseboards, the area near the trash can, sinks, and other favorite places for cockroaches.
