How to detect bedbugs?
Some people are very suspicious; when they notice an insect crawling on the floor, they immediately think that it is a bug. Although in fact it could be a cockroach or a fly, which does not pose such a threat as a bedbug infestation.
To understand whether there really are bedbugs in the room, pay attention to possible signs of their presence, such as:
- Small spots on the wall, on bedding and other places with a light shade, where they can be easily seen due to the color contrast. Small dots are insect excrement, which clearly indicates the presence of bedbugs in the house.
- Red bloody marks on the mattress. Most people don't wake up at night from bedbug bites. The insect, having had its fill of blood, becomes slow and clumsy. Being in an unconscious state, a sleeping person can often crush an arthropod. As a result, only a trace that is difficult to wash off remains from the parasite.
- Red dots on the skin. They can go in a chain in a row or be grouped with each other. For some, the bites are small, for others they swell large (due to the characteristics of the body).
- A specific smell reminiscent of rotten wild berries.
The detection of one of the signs does not necessarily indicate an infected room; it may be a coincidence.

The resulting powder is used as a regular chemical dust. It is used to treat any places where house bugs may live.
How to get rid of bed bugs using turpentine
Turpentine is a fairly common component of folk recipes that can be used to remove bed bugs. There are several recipes for killing parasites:
- boiling water (100 ml), turpentine (10 ml), kerosene (15 ml), green soap (42 g);
- turpentine (100 ml), kerosene (100 ml), naphthalene (25 g);
- aspirin (5 g); phenol (40 g), turpentine (40 ml);
- kerosene (250 ml), turpentine (500 ml), alcohol (100 ml), water (100 ml), naphthalene (50 g);

After completion, you need to leave the house/apartment for a day - this is a mandatory condition. It is advisable to leave the windows open so that the smell can dissipate. To carry out a total destruction of parasites and remove them completely, re-treatment is carried out after 5 days.

Fighting bedbugs with vinegar
The next folk remedy that allows you to remove house bugs yourself is acetic acid. The product has a persistent and rather pungent odor. This is precisely what people's defense is based on.
To get rid of bedbugs, you need to treat the headboards of beds, upholstery of upholstered furniture and wash the floors with an aqueous solution of vinegar. The treatment solution is prepared from vinegar and water in a ratio of 1:2. The result will be, but short-lived, since the smell disappears quite quickly. To prolong the effect, it is recommended to pour vinegar from a saucer and place it under the bed or sofa.

Denatured alcohol - folk fight against bedbugs
Denatured alcohol is another folk remedy that helps get rid of and destroy blood-sucking parasites. The drug is industrial alcohol and initially contains methanol, kerosene and isopranol.
For this reason, denatured alcohol is a strong poison with an extremely unpleasant odor and should be used independently with extreme caution. The product can cause severe irritation to the respiratory tract, so during the treatment of a house or apartment you need to wear a respirator and safety glasses.
It will not be possible to completely remove and destroy bloodsuckers using this folk remedy. After processing the found nest, they will freeze, but will not die. They will remain in this state for at least four days, and then they will start biting again and the bedbugs will have to be poisoned again.
In order to destroy biting aggressors, only hard surfaces are allowed to be treated with denatured alcohol, since irremovable stains remain on the fabrics and upholstery of the sofa. After completing the treatment, the house or apartment must be thoroughly ventilated - this is one of the most important conditions for the home fight against blood-sucking parasites. Denatured alcohol also helps poison cockroaches.
To remove bedbugs, you can use either a pure product or mix it with other components. For example, mix industrial alcohol (150 ml) with naphthalene (7 g). It must be remembered that the mixture does not affect eggs.
It is not recommended to exterminate bedbugs or fleas using this folk method in a residential area, since the aggressive odor in the house or apartment will persist for a very long time.
Extermination of bedbugs: choosing the appropriate method
There are many methods that have their own characteristics and give different results. In advanced situations, when nothing helps, it is advisable to turn to professional exterminators. They treat the room with cold or hot mist that kills parasites.
The services of pest control specialists are not cheap, so people choose other options that also help clean the room from bedbugs. This:
- sprays, aerosols;
- powders, dusts;
- chemicals for wet processing;
- folk remedies - mixtures based on vinegar, turpentine, kerosene.
Sprays and aerosols are very convenient to use. They have a local effect on bedbug nests and the parasites themselves. These drugs affect the nervous system of the insect, causing paralysis, which causes rapid death. They usually treat carpets, rugs, and upholstered furniture. Some sprays have additional nozzles that help penetrate the most difficult to reach places.
Dusts, powders or crayons cannot be called effective. To activate them, direct contact with the bug is necessary, so simultaneous destruction of the entire population is impossible. It is best to use them as preventive agents - for example, to prevent the appearance of new pests after treatment.
The most popular drugs from the group of dusts include:
- "Phenaxin";
- "Clean house";
- "Face double";
- chalk "Mashenka".
For self-removal of bedbugs, chemical agents that are used for wet treatment are also good. Thus, the active substance that is part of such a drug gets into the most inaccessible places. They are sold as concentrates or dry. The most common include:
- "Foresight";
- "Executioner";
- "Cucaracha";
- "Karbofos";
- "Get."
You need to use insecticides very carefully, as they are very poisonous and harmful to people and animals. When working with household chemicals, it is recommended to wear rubber gloves, protective suits, and respirators.
After treating the room with such preparations, you need to close the windows and leave the apartment for several hours. Wet cleaning should not be carried out for 3-5 days after the procedure. Most insecticides do not destroy oviposition, so you will have to re-treat them in about a week or two, when the young individuals hatch.
