Ultrasonic rodent repeller “Electrocat-turbo”

Mice and rats are long-time neighbors of humans, causing discomfort by eating food, damaging buildings and carrying dangerous diseases. For a long time, people have tried to get rid of unwanted neighbors, using various methods: toxic substances, mechanical traps, chemicals, etc. On the modern market there is a good alternative to all of the above - the Elektrokot ultrasonic repeller, which will humanely rid your home of rodents.

Features of the Elektrokot repeller

The ultrasonic repeller Electrokot is produced in Russia.

The Electrokot repeller can be used to combat rodents in residential, office and warehouse premises, as well as in food factories and in the holds of ships

Operating principle

An electric cat is a small device that emits ultrasonic waves of a certain frequency that repel rats and mice. The human auditory organs cannot hear sounds of such frequencies, and the device has a depressing effect on rodents with more sensitive hearing. The emitted waves have an irritating and disorienting effect on mice and rats, which, experiencing fear, leave their habitats. Under the influence of acoustic stress, rodents are unable to eat and reproduce, as a result of which they can only leave the room in which the Electrocat repeller is installed.

Under the influence of ultrasound, rodents leave the territory in a short time

Do not turn on the Electrocat device in rooms where hamsters, guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, ferrets, etc. live, as their hearing is also susceptible to ultrasound.

The electric cat emits waves, the frequency of which is constantly changing, which prevents rodents from getting used to the radiation; in addition, the effect is complemented by LED flashes. Such a complex effect has a bad effect on the psychological state of rats and mice, so they try to quickly leave the area where they are experiencing discomfort.

Main technical characteristics

The Electrokot device has two operating modes: “day” and “night”. The night mode, in addition to ultrasonic waves, also produces vibrations of ordinary sound (a barely noticeable squeak), audible to human ears. Day mode disables this add-on, since during daylight hours there may be people near the device, and the sound produced may cause discomfort to them.

In night mode, sound effects are added to the ultrasonic radiation

The frequency of the ultrasonic wave changes depending on the selected operating mode:

  • from 17–20 to 50–100 kHz — daytime version (green LED);
  • from 5–8 to 30–40 kHz — night version (red LED).

Electric Kot operates from a 220 volt network and can be installed indoors and outdoors. Temperature conditions at which the device can be used: from -30°C to +40°C.

Ultrasonic coverage ranges from 200 to 400 square meters. It all depends on the type of repeller chosen. Range: 110 degrees.

The device is quite small and light, has the following overall dimensions:

  • weight - 250 grams;
  • width - 6.5 centimeters;
  • height - 10.9 centimeters;
  • length - 2.5 centimeters.

The device has a small plastic case.
The manufacturer provides a ten-year warranty on its device. The device package includes: the electric repeller itself, a power supply for connecting to an outlet, a technical data sheet, and a packaging box.

The device can be used immediately after opening the package and reading the instructions.

Instructions for use

The device can work effectively both indoors and outdoors. To connect it, an electrical network of 220 volts is required. The repeller must be installed at a distance of no less than thirty and no more than fifty centimeters from the floor surface. The device has a special mount that will allow you to fix it in the right place. When placing the device in an apartment or house, keep in mind that ultrasound is unable to penetrate walls, and upholstered furniture, curtains, etc. absorb it.

Ultrasound is reflected from hard surfaces and absorbed by soft ones

Using Electrocat implies following the following safety rules:

  1. Do not connect to the network a device that has any mechanical damage.
  2. While the repeller is operating, do not cover the ventilation holes on the device body with foreign objects.
  3. Do not install the repeller near heating devices: stoves, stoves, radiators, radiators, etc.
  4. Do not disassemble or repair the device yourself.
  5. Keep the repeller away from your eyes and ears. The minimum distance to which you can approach is 50 centimeters.
  6. Do not operate the device if it has been exposed to water.
  7. Do not lubricate the device parts with solvents or gasoline.
  8. Use the device only for its intended purpose.

If the device is used correctly, the results will be noticeable after three to four days; within a month, the room will be completely rid of rodents . If in the first days you begin to see mice and rats much more often than before using the device, then do not worry. The fact is that ultrasound disorients rodents, so they lose their vigilance and, if previously they managed to hide when a person approached, now they lose their reaction speed.

In the first hours of using the device, you may see many more mice or rats in the house than you have seen before

After all the rodents have left the room, you need to turn it on weekly for 1-3 days to exclude the possibility of mice and rats returning.

Little mice and rat pups are deaf for 14 days after birth. Therefore, ultrasound does not affect them.

Advantages and disadvantages of the device

The advantages of the Electrokot device include the following characteristics:

  • the device is completely safe for humans and large pets (cats, dogs), so it can be turned on even in residential premises;
  • the device fights rodents in a humane way: it does not kill them, but expels them from the territory;
  • easy to use: to operate you just need to plug the device into a power outlet;
  • the device does not cause problems with computers, televisions, radios and fire alarms;
  • regular changes in the frequency of the emitted waves prevent rats and mice from becoming accustomed to ultrasound;
  • in “day” mode the device operates absolutely silently;
  • requires little electricity: only 5–8 watts per hour, a regular light bulb consumes much more.

The device does not have any effect on cats, but at first they may behave strangely.
The only disadvantages include the fact that ultrasound does not penetrate walls, which means that in order to protect several rooms from rodents, it is necessary to install one device in each. But this fact applies to any ultrasonic repeller.

When installing a repeller, you should be guided by the following factors:

1. Ultrasonic waves are well reflected from hard materials and coatings (wood, concrete, glass, etc.) and are absorbed by soft materials (curtains, carpets, products stored in soft containers, etc.)

2. Ultrasound does not penetrate through walls, partitions, glass, and the volume of the room is filled with ultrasonic radiation due to multiple reflections from solid surfaces, which is why it is more effective in enclosed spaces.

3. The installation site of the repeller should not be blocked by various objects that interfere with radiation.

4.The ultrasonic rodent repeller can be mounted on the wall if desired.

Types of repeller Electrocat

Electrokot ultrasonic repellers are available in two versions: Classic and Turbo. Both of them have the technical indicators described earlier.

Models of the Electrokot device differ in appearance and in some characteristics

There are few differences between the models:

  1. Appearance.
  2. Ultrasonic coverage area.
  3. Acoustic pressure.

Classic Electric cat

The appearance of the classic device is quite simple. The device has a dark plastic case; on the front panel there is a button to turn on/off the daytime mode and a light indicator that transmits light flashes. The device starts working immediately after being plugged into the mains.

The classic Electric cat has a heat coverage of 200 sq.m.

The classic Electric cat spreads its effect over an area of 200 square meters. The acoustic pressure is 110 decibels. The price of the device is approximately 1150 rubles.

Electrokot Turbo

The turbo device also has a black plastic case. The front panel differs from the classic model: there are four light indicators and a mode switch button. When the “Night” mode is turned on, the red LED lights up, the “Day” mode works when the green indicator is on. The other two bulbs enhance the effect of ultrasonic waves with LED flashes.

The Electrokot Turbo model covers an area of 400 sq.m.

Electric Kot Turbo has a large coverage area - 400 square meters, acoustic pressure - 120 decibels. The price of the device starts from 1350 rubles.

Which option to choose

To choose the right type of Electric Cat, you need to answer one question: what room or area do you plan to protect from rodents? If this is an apartment or a small warehouse, then the power of the Classic Electric Cat is quite enough. Larger barns or factory premises will be better protected by the Turbo model, as it has a larger coverage area.

In a room without partitions or walls, with an area of no more than 400 sq.m. one Electrokot Turbo device will be enough

But do not forget that walls and partitions stop the influence of ultrasound, which means that even in a small area separated by walls, it is necessary to install several devices in different rooms.

Note:

The results of numerous observations have shown that rodents irradiated with an ultrasonic signal experience increasing stress and leave the irradiated room. Treatment period is up to 4 weeks. It depends on the size, type of population and the intensity of radiation. It should be remembered that newborn mice and rat pups are deaf for 14 days after birth and sound does not affect them during this period. It should also be borne in mind that the apparent increase in the number of rodents in the first days after the ElectroKot rodent repeller started working is explained by the fact that under the influence of stress they lose their instinct of self-preservation and do not hide when a person appears. But rodents cannot withstand prolonged exposure to ultrasound and leave the room within a few weeks.

To prevent their return or the appearance of new ones, the repeller should be turned on for 2-3 days weekly.
