Composition of the drug

Pharmacological properties

Gel
As indicated in the instructions for use of Medifox, the gel effectively eliminates parasites upon contact with them. The medicine is practically non-toxic, therefore, if all instructions are followed, it does not provoke allergic reactions.
The gel has a systemic effect, eliminating not only living organisms, but also their larvae. The drug paralyzes the nerve cells of parasites, eliminating them. When applied to the skin, Medifox has a low-toxic effect on the patient's body.
For head lice, the gel is applied once to the skin to maintain the pharmacological effect for at least 2-3 weeks. Treatment of scabies is also carried out in a single dose - this is enough to achieve a positive effect.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
The medication is applied externally. After contact with the skin, it begins to actively act on parasites localized in the pores of the skin. As a result, there is a significant reduction in their number and gradual restoration of the affected areas of the skin.
The principle of action of the medicine is based on the ability of permethrin to act on the body of parasites and provoke paralysis. By blocking sodium channels, the conduction of nerve impulses to muscle fibers deteriorates, which leads to immobilization of the parasite.
As a result, the causative agents of pathologies die, the skin is gradually cleansed, signs of inflammation and irritation are eliminated, and severe itching, which is considered the most unpleasant manifestation of many disorders, disappears.
One of the advantages of the product is considered to be the ability to paralyze not only adults, but also eggs, lice larvae, and ticks. As a result, the likelihood of re-development of the pathology is almost completely eliminated if the drug was used correctly.
After the product penetrates the skin, its absorption into the systemic bloodstream almost does not occur. However, the ingredients penetrate not only the top layer of the skin, but also the dermis, which ensures maximum effectiveness. Description of pharmacological action

Pharmacodynamics

Contraindications for use
Hypersensitivity (including to other synthetic pyrethroids, chrysanthemums and other plants containing pyrethrins), lactation period (for the treatment of scabies), children under 1 year of age (for emulsion), up to 6 months (for cream).
Side effects
Local reactions - burning sensation, tingling or tingling, skin numbness, increased itching, erythema, allergic reactions (skin rashes, swelling).
Directions for use and doses
Externally. For pediculosis - 1% cream or 0.5% lotion using a cotton swab is evenly applied to moistened scalp hair or scalp (for lice pubis), rubbing into the roots of the hair (the head can be covered with a scarf), leave for 10 (1% cream ) or 40 minutes (0.5% lotion), then rinse thoroughly with warm running water and soap or shampoo and dry in the usual way. The hair is combed with a fine comb to remove nits and dead lice; If live lice are found, the treatment is repeated after 7 days. If there is a danger of re-infection in a group, after washing the hair, moisten the scalp with the drug (or thoroughly wipe it) and wait until the hair is dry (do not wash or dry it). The drug applied to the hair retains its activity for approximately 2 weeks (it does not allow lice that have returned to the hair to multiply). For scabies, use a solution in the form of a freshly prepared 0.4% aqueous emulsion, which is thoroughly rubbed once a day (at night) into the skin of the upper extremities, torso, and then lower extremities for 3 days in a row. The skin of the face and neck, as well as the scalp, cannot be treated. On the fourth day, the patient should take a shower and change his underwear and bed linen.
Overdose
In case of ingestion, gastric lavage and symptomatic therapy are necessary.
Precautions for use
It is necessary to avoid contact with the mucous membranes of the eyes, nose, mouth, and external genitalia (if this happens, the mucous membranes are washed generously with running water). Medical personnel are recommended to wear rubber gloves. After the procedure, wash your hands thoroughly with soap. Procedures should be carried out in a well-ventilated area. If you are taking other medications at the same time or have concomitant diseases of the scalp, you must consult a doctor before starting treatment. Medifox is used not only to get rid of scabies.

Instructions for use of gel, solution, dosage

From demodicosis
If the skin is damaged by mites, use only a solution with a concentration of 5% of the active ingredient. The solution in its pure form is applied to the affected area for 3-6 hours, depending on the severity of the itching.
The product is applied using a special cotton swab. Treatment can be repeated 2-3 times at intervals of 4-7 days. Usually this time is enough to obtain a therapeutic result.
Only in some cases with demodicosis is the use of gel allowed. It is distributed in a thin layer on the affected areas and rubbed in. The product should be washed off after 5-6 hours. The manipulation can be repeated after 4 days. In each case, the treatment regimen and dosage may differ depending on the patient and the degree of neglect of the condition.
For scabies
To treat scabies, only a solution is used. Usually you need to take a product with a concentration of the active component of 20%, then add 8 ml of solution to 100 ml of water. Treat the affected areas of the skin with the resulting product using a cotton swab. The manipulation should be carried out before bedtime, and in the morning take a warm shower using neutral soap.
Repeated use for scabies is allowed 4 days after the initial treatment. Usually 2 times is enough for complete recovery. Less concentrated solutions are not used. In addition, the dilution of the drug for the treatment of adults and children is no different; it is only important to take into account the age restrictions specified in the instructions.
For lice
The gel is used only for the treatment of pediculosis pubis, as well as for lice infestation of the scalp. When symptoms appear, a small amount of the product is rubbed into the roots of the hair, and then distributed over the entire length. The exposure time is 40 minutes. After this, the hair should be washed twice using a mild shampoo or neutral soap.
Repeating the treatment is allowed no earlier than 2 weeks after the initial use. Usually once is enough, but in some cases repeated use is required. When using the gel in the area of the external genitalia, it is also rubbed into the skin, and then distributed through the hair using a special comb or a regular plastic comb.
It is important, after removing the product from the pubic area or head, to carefully comb out the dead insects and their larvae with a comb.
It is worth noting that the concentrated solution can also be used to treat head lice. To do this, take the solution in ampoules and add 1 ampoule to 200 ml of water. Apply the resulting product to the scalp or genital area and leave for 20 minutes. The next step is to wash the treated area with neutral soap or shampoo and comb out the dead parasites using a comb.
If necessary, re-treatment can be carried out after 14 days. In each case, the treatment is controlled by a doctor.
How to take Medifox
For the treatment of head and pubic lice
Prepare a 0.2% emulsion. External treatment is carried out only with freshly prepared mixture. To obtain it, add 8 ml of concentrate from the bottle (it has marks on it) to 200 ml of boiled water (warm, not hot).
If ampoules are used, then the contents are 1 pc. (2 ml) diluted in 50 ml of water. To treat long hair, the dosage is doubled (4 ml of the drug / 100 ml of water).
The prepared solution should be applied to moistened scalp or body with a cotton swab. Can be rubbed into skin. Application time – 20 minutes. Wash off using usual hygiene products (soap, shampoo) with warm running water.
It is more convenient to use gel for pediculosis. It is applied to moistened scalp or body, rubbing into the roots of the hair, for 40 minutes. Then wash off with warm water and shampoo/soap. Dead parasites and nits are combed out with a comb. Treatment is carried out no more than 2 times a month.

For scabies
Treatment is carried out for 4 days, without washing off the composition from the body until the end of the course. Emulsion 0.4% (add 1/3 of a bottle according to the markings or the contents of 4 ampoules to 100 ml of warm water) should be rubbed into the skin of the arms, legs and torso once a day. The face, neck and hair on the head should not be treated with the emulsion. After 4 days, the patient must take a shower, change bedding and underwear.
Side effects

- Pediculen Ultra is a product in the form of a spray, lotion and shampoo for external use, used to combat lice. The drug is considered effective for pediculosis, but is not used in the case of demodicosis and scabies.
