Xulat C25 and Xulat micro for bedbugs: instructions for use, reviews

Remedy against bedbugs, cockroaches and other insects “Xulat”

Products from the Xulat series of drugs have been on the market since 2009. The manufacturer is a specialized Spanish company Quimica de Munguia. These drugs have long been tried by many consumers. On the Internet and under this article you can find a large number of positive reviews, which indicate that they are high-quality and modern. Xulat has the ability to paralyze the nervous system of insects and perfectly copes with the task assigned to it in destroying various household pests, including bedbugs, cockroaches, ants and other unpleasant insects that deprive our homes of comfort, coziness and security.

Xulat C25 and Xulat Micro. What is the difference?

Both drugs are suitable for professional and household use. In this article, we will briefly tell you what microencapsulated insecticides are, why they are so useful, and how to use them correctly to successfully control pests in your home.

First, Xulat C25 gained popularity in the market. This is one of the first microcapsule insecticides in Russia. “Xulat C25” is produced only in liter containers and is intended for use by professionals in disinfection services and sanitary stations to destroy bed bugs, cockroaches, fleas, mosquitoes, and ants.

At the time of its appearance, it was one of the few drugs without a pungent odor, relatively safe and effective, ensuring the death of insects.

On a note!

"Xulate C25" belongs to the category of moderately hazardous substances and hazard class 3. Therefore, it can be used even in kindergartens and hospitals.

Unfortunately, surviving insects treated with substances such as Chlorpyrifos eventually develop immunity. Therefore, the manufacturer synthesized an improved new generation Xulat - “Xulat Micro”. Its microcapsule is smaller in size, and its shell has become carbon. 3 active ingredients were placed in the capsule, eliminating the resistant effect against insects. This is the difference between Xulat S25 and Xulat Micro. In terms of composition and release form, these are two different products under similar names.

Composition of the drug and release form

Available in concentrate form. Moreover, it differs somewhat from other similar emulsions in its improved formula. It is based on capsules containing a milky-white, potent substance. Thanks to this feature, it can retain its effect for a long time after treating the room - up to 5 months.

The active substance is chlorpyrifos. Known for its nerve-paralytic effects. Once ingested, it causes disruption of the nervous system, resulting in paralysis, followed by death. Additional components are:

  1. fragrance;
  2. encapsulated agent;
  3. thickener;
  4. preservative;
  5. water.

Sold in plastic cans. It comes with instructions for use. Belongs to hazard class 4. This means that the drug is low-hazard and causes minor irritation to the skin, in case of accidental contact, and eyes.

Instructions for use

When you prepare the Xulat Micro working suspension, we strongly recommend that you use the instructions that you will receive along with the drug.

The fact is that each type of insect requires an aqueous suspension of different concentrations of active ingredients; you must find out how much you will need for a certain volume of water. Also, not all sprayers work the same, so check the instructions before choosing the equipment you'll use to spray Xulath Micro.

Also consider the important point regarding the preparation of the room before treatment with drugs. All these nuances are described in the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

Xulat Micro - an updated remedy for cockroaches and bedbugs

Xulat Micro microencapsulated insecticide provides long-term residual control of a wide range of pests, including bed bugs, cockroaches, biting flies, fleas, mosquitoes, spiders and scorpions.

Refer to the product label for a complete list of pests that can be treated with this product.

What is a microencapsulated insecticide?

  • Microencapsulated pesticides are insecticides in which the active ingredient of the pesticide (dry or liquid) is coated (or encapsulated) with a protective coating (polymer). The coverings may be plastic, starch, or some other type of material. Microencapsulated pesticides are mixed with water and applied as a spray, just like any other sprayable pesticide formulation.
  • Once sprayed, the plastic coating of the microencapsulated pesticide breaks down and releases the active ingredient contained in the capsule. In some situations, the encapsulation process may provide a delayed release of the active ingredient.
  • Depending on the physical composition of the coating, the release of the pesticide's active ingredient may be affected by environmental weather conditions. If release is slower than normal, residue may remain on treated surfaces longer than expected. Other factors that may vary depending on the chemistry of the polymer or changing factors during processing are insecticide residual, speed of action, odor, and product safety.
  • The microcapsules are suspended in a liquid composition base such that the final composition is a flowable suspension. The composition is then mixed with water and requires regular stirring to prevent the capsule from settling.

Conditions for use of microencapsulated pesticides

Microencapsulated pesticide formulations are excellent for indoor pest control due to their long residual effect and rapid kill of a range of different pests.

They are also versatile in the types of equipment they can be used on, from small portable sprayers to hydraulic sprayers, low-volume ground sprayers, foggers and low-volume aerial sprayers.

There are several reasons why you might choose a liquid insecticide that is microencapsulated. We recommend using them for general control of insect pests found in your home. One specific use for microencapsulated insecticides is to install a pesticide barrier around the perimeter of your home or building.

Some microencapsulated pesticide products contain highly toxic coating materials to improve product safety, to reduce odor or to protect the active ingredient from photodegradation.

Pros and cons of Xulat

The chemical Xulat C 25 has both advantages and disadvantages. First, let's look at the advantages:

  1. No unpleasant odor. Since the active ingredients are enclosed in a capsule, the unpleasant aroma does not come out. The distilled water in which they swim does not smell either. This is a big plus for allergy sufferers and families with children.
  2. Relative safety. Thanks to the protective shell, humans do not have direct contact with insecticides. In addition, the dosage of active ingredients is very small and only harms insects, and not immediately. However, during processing it is necessary to observe safety measures, otherwise you may develop an allergic runny nose or problems with the respiratory system.
  3. Efficiency and wide spectrum of action. If the poison is used correctly, it will kill not only bed bugs, but also cockroaches, wasps, fleas, ants and other insects that are hated by humans.
  4. Long-term effects on parasites: unlike most poisons, capsules can work for up to six months. When dry, they retain their properties well and can protect the apartment from re-infection.

Along with its advantages, this bedbug poison has received several significant disadvantages:

  • No effect on eggs: active components do not penetrate through their membranes.
  • High price: there are many cheaper drugs for home bugs in stores. True, thanks to the convenient dosage, you can not waste time on extra milliliters, but purchase the required amount of product.
  • Slow action. The first results appear only after 3-4 days, and it will take a long time to fight the bloodsuckers.
  • Fear of sun rays: under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, the capsules are gradually destroyed. Therefore, despite the stated six months, the residual effect is often only enough for a month.
  • Poor efficiency in rooms with high humidity. This is especially true for the kitchen, the walls of which are lined with ceramic tiles. Moisture constantly accumulates on them, and microcapsules cannot create a uniform layer.

If you were unable to buy the product, you can replace it with a similar chemical. For example, Lambda Zonda and Xulat Micro have a similar effect on bedbugs, and their cost is approximately the same.

The uniqueness of the chemical formula and composition of “Xulat Micro”

Xulat micro contains well-known and widely used insecticides. The uniqueness of the formula lies in the proportions of the combination of these substances.

In addition, the carbon shell of Xulat includes so-called Velcro capillaries, which enable the capsules to stick to any surface, ensuring the “omnipresence” of the product and its active components. Due to their stickiness, capsules with poison stick to the limbs and chitinous covering of the body of insects and slowly destroy the carrier. The active ingredients in Xulata Micro are specially selected for the most powerful and long-lasting effect against insects.

Composition of the product and the effect of its components on insects

Xulat contains three fairly powerful insecticides:

  1. Cypermethrin, which quickly affects the nervous system of insects at all stages of development (except eggs). Gives a good effect against insects resistant to organophosphorus insecticides, has intestinal and contact effects. It is precisely due to the contact action that Xulat is so effective against bedbugs, which, unlike cockroaches, cannot be forced to eat any poisoned bait, since they feed only on blood.

  2. Tetramethrin, like cypermethrin, is an insecticide from the pyrethroid class, has a contact effect, causing paralysis and rapid death in insects.

  3. Piperonyl butoxide is a substance with insecticidal properties, which at the same time enhances the effect of using pyrethroids and provides a synergistic effect (a sharp increase in effectiveness when present together). Piperonyl butoxide improves the penetration of pyrethroids through the protective coverings of insects, increasing the overall effectiveness of the drug up to 5 times.

This combined composition turns out to be very effective against cockroaches, bedbugs, as well as other parasites and pests due to the fact that the likelihood of insects developing resistance to three active components at once is negligible. For example, even populations of bugs resistant to cypermethrin, when treated with Xulate Micro, die from tetramethrin and piperonyl butoxide.

It should be noted that Xulat is one of the so-called microencapsulated products: insecticides are enclosed in tiny capsules, which, after the solution dries on the treated surface, simply remain there in the form of a thin invisible layer. Insects running through it “get dirty” in such microcapsules, and the active substances stick to their chitinous cover, gradually penetrating through it and leading to poisoning.

And one more thing: Insect smoke bombs are a fast-acting killer... (the article has more)

Thanks to this, Xulat is a long-acting agent, and when used correctly, it destroys insects even several weeks after application. The drug also provides a barrier effect - protection against the penetration of insects from neighboring rooms.

On a note

No matter how effective the drug is, the effect of its use will largely be determined by the correct treatment of the apartment. For example, if bedbugs live next to the bed and, moreover, enter from neighbors through the ventilation, then by treating only the floors and baseboards you are unlikely to destroy all the parasites and certainly will not be able to prevent their re-entry into the apartment. Carefully following the instructions for use will eliminate such problems.

Unlike many other insect repellents, Xulat Micro has a very slight odor. If, for example, Tetrix and Karbofos smell so much that after treating a room people sometimes have to throw away furniture that retains a “hospital” smell for months, then when using Xulat everything is much simpler. It is partly due to the lack of odor that Xulat Micro is gaining popularity so quickly and collecting good customer reviews.

Review

“A friend from Moscow recommended this remedy to us. They were knocked off their feet when pressed - bedbugs appeared in the apartment. They couldn’t buy it anywhere in St. Petersburg. Only after calling us did we find out that even in Moscow they only buy it in the online store. For a 30 ml jar I thought the price was a little high. But when we tried it, all complaints disappeared. The product does work, and not only our bedbugs died, but also all the cockroaches. Insects die immediately after treatment, just be sure to have time to sweep them out from behind the bedside tables. At the same time, there is no smell, and there are no marks on the furniture either. A good remedy..."

Advantages of Xulat Micro in the fight against insects

  • Kills a wide range of pests (including bed bugs, cockroaches, biting flies, fleas, mosquitoes, spiders and scorpions)
  • Controlled Release Technology Provides Long Lasting Residual Control

For indoor and outdoor use, including indoor broadcast environments.

  • The microencapsulated pesticide "Xulat Micro" has a number of advantages that give it an advantage over conventional methods of using liquid pesticides. This highly toxic chemical can be mixed and handled safely because the plastic polymer coatings help protect the applicator from pesticide exposure.
  • Microencapsulated insecticides work well on both porous and non-porous surfaces because insects easily pick up capsules from treated areas, for example by sticking to the spines on the insect's leg.
  • Delayed release of the active ingredient prolongs effectiveness, which reduces the required amount of product and expands the range of application time.
  • The advantages of Xulata Micro are the absence of odor and the likelihood of stains or other damage to the treated items.

Pros and cons of "Xulat Micro"

Several disadvantages that arise when using the microencapsulated insecticide Xulat Micro include the need to constantly mix the product in the spray tank.

Other disadvantages include the fact that Xulat Micro does not affect bedbug eggs. Sometimes this requires re-baiting after 2 weeks. But practice shows that young larvae die immediately after they leave the eggs: the treated surface still poses a mortal danger for parasites.

Direct sunlight reduces the effectiveness of Xulata Micro.

Significant disadvantages

Many believe that Xulat C25 is the most effective remedy for cockroaches in the apartment. However, it is not without its drawbacks. The most serious ones include:

  • Ineffective against insect larvae. For complete safety for humans and pets, the active poison is placed in dense capsules that are not able to penetrate the egg membrane. Experts warn that re-treatment of the premises is always required after two weeks. It is after this period that new insects hatch.
  • Does not work in saunas and steam baths, because temperatures above 80 degrees are destructive for the active ingredients.
  • Low efficiency is also observed when treating rooms with high humidity. This is explained by the fact that it is impossible to achieve a uniform layer of microcapsules. Therefore, the drug has not been widely used in the kitchens of public catering establishments.
  • Insects die only after three days after treatment. This is due to the technology for producing concentrated liquid.
  • The validity period of the product can reach up to six months, but on surfaces that are exposed to direct sunlight it is reduced to 1-2 months.
  • High price. Microencapsulated poison is much more expensive than conventional household products aimed at killing parasites.

Due to existing shortcomings, it is important to understand the feasibility of treating a specific room.

Using Xulat Micro

To use Xulat Micro microencapsulated insecticide, you will need to dilute it and mix the product in a hand sprayer. It is also advisable to wear the necessary personal protective equipment before reconstitution and application (gloves, safety glasses and face shield).

User's Guide "Xulat Micro" for indoor use

  • Step 1: Check the label. Read the label on Xulate Micro microencapsulated pesticide to determine proper use and rate.
  • Step 2: Mix the product. Add the required amount of Xulat Micro to a hand pump sprayer half filled. Stir Xulat Micro and then add the remaining half of the water and stir again.
  • Step 3: Begin the insect removal process. For indoor applications, spray into cracks and crevices, door frames, window frames, baseboards, around pipes, and under cabinets and appliances.

How to use Xulate against bedbugs?

To treat a room with Xulat you will need a spray bottle with a volume of up to 1 liter, protective equipment, and a medical syringe without a needle. We begin the procedure by preparing the room:

  1. We take out plants, accessories for animals, and if you have one, an aquarium.
  2. We carry out food, personal hygiene products, medicines, and cutlery.
  3. We move the furniture from the periphery to the center of the room, exposing the spaces where bedbugs live.
  4. We remove wall paintings, photographs, various devices (there may also be parasites behind them).

Next we proceed to processing:

  1. Fill the syringe with the required amount of insecticide (see instructions for use, dosages are indicated there for each individual case). Approach the dosage responsibly - too little will be ineffective, too much can lead to intoxication.
  2. Mix the product drawn into the syringe with warm water in the proportion specified in the instructions.
  3. Pour the solution into a spray bottle, then shake it for 60 seconds to distribute the product in the water.
  4. Apply the product evenly to surfaces where parasites most often live - the space under the bed and furniture, baseboards, doorways, window frames.
  5. Open the windows in the room for ventilation for 1-2 hours. Use a cloth dampened with water to wipe down areas in the room that you frequently touch.
  6. Then all you have to do is wait; the parasites will die within a few days (usually 4-7 days are enough for the complete death of a bedbug colony).

Reviews of Xulat C25

Valentina (Stupino)

“I have several apartments that I rent out to tenants. One of the problems of this business is the constant need to combat various insects that appear in large numbers due to dirt, or enter the house with new residents. Removing bed bugs, cockroaches, and ants from apartments has to be done frequently and regularly, so I already consider myself a professional in this matter. I tried different products, but ultimately settled on Xulat C25. I have been using it for almost ten years with good results. They say that insects get used to it, and the product stops working. I didn't notice anything like that. Insects, of course, reappear, but this is not a problem with the effectiveness of the product. It’s just that parasites often appear when new people move into an apartment and bring with them things and furniture already infested with insects.”

Reviews of Xulat Micro

Marina (Nizhnegorsk)

“I bought an apartment in an old house in a residential neighborhood. Although it was completely empty and we carried out cosmetic repairs before moving in, a month later we discovered bedbugs in our bed. After careful marketing of insecticidal products in the market, I chose Controlled Release Xulath Micro. This is a liquid microencapsulated concentrate in the form of a suspension. The drug is practically odorless. I carried out the procedure for exterminating bedbugs, strictly following the instructions. The result was quick, so I can confidently recommend it to you too.”

Precautionary measures

All pesticides designed to affect only blood-sucking and other parasites require compliance with safety rules. The drugs in the Xulat series are no exception.

They are standard and do not require much effort to remember:

  • always remove all poultry, fish, dogs, cats and other animals from the area where treatment is carried out;
  • Children are not allowed in the room;
  • all utensils, as well as food, must be packaged in plastic before baiting begins;
  • apply the solution only with gloves, a respirator on your face, and protective clothing with long sleeves;
  • thoroughly ventilate the room after the destruction process, then carry out wet cleaning;
  • If Xulate gets into your eyes, rinse them with plenty of clean water;
  • If after using Xulate you find signs of poisoning, you need to go out into fresh air and take any adsorbent.

Health effects of pesticides

Pesticides are poisons, and unfortunately they can harm more than just the “pests” they are aimed at. They are toxic and exposure to them can cause a range of unpleasant health effects from respiratory problems to cancer.

The causes of the disease can be:

Acute toxicity manifests itself as:

  • respiratory irritation, sore throat and/or cough
  • allergic sensitization
  • eye and skin irritation
  • nausea, vomiting, diarrhea
  • headache, loss of consciousness
  • extreme weakness, seizures and/or death

Chronic toxicity:

Pesticides can cause harmful effects over a long period, usually after repeated or persistent exposure at low levels. Small doses do not always cause immediate effects, but over time they can cause very serious illness.

Long-term exposure to pesticides may be associated with the development of Parkinson's disease, asthma, depression and anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and cancer, including leukemia and Hodjonkin lymphoma.

Safety when using Xulate

Even though Xulat Micro is odorless and almost invisible once applied to a surface, it is still an insecticide and will not add health benefits if ingested by humans or pets. Therefore, when using the product, you should follow standard safety rules:

  1. When treating a room, all pets and people must be removed from it.
  2. Dishes and food products must be packed in plastic bags before processing.
  3. All work should be carried out wearing rubber gloves, a respirator, safety glasses and long sleeves.
  4. After treating the room and keeping it in this form for some time, it needs to be thoroughly ventilated and then wet cleaned.

If the product gets into your eyes, they should be rinsed thoroughly with clean water. If signs of poisoning appear during treatment, you need to leave the room into clean air, swallow several tablets of activated carbon and wash them down with water.

Review

“We were knocked off our feet while looking for this Xulat in Moscow, and ended up buying it online. Bought, dissolved, poured. What can I say? The product is normal, odorless, colorless, but not something that directly burns all insects. Most of them, of course, died, but we crushed individual small bugs even a week after treatment. But strictly according to the instructions, we did not wipe all the back walls of the furniture and the floors under the beds; as a result, a second treatment was not needed. In general, if you take Xulat, be prepared that small bugs will still run around at first, and then disappear on their own.”

Tatyana, Mytishchi

You need to be especially careful when treating rooms where a cat or cat permanently lives - these animals are quite sensitive to pyrethroids.

In conclusion, we note that for small city apartments, if it is necessary to quickly remove bedbugs or cockroaches without creating an odor in the room, as well as if neighbors have insects, Xulat Micro can be considered a quite worthy remedy.

If you have personal experience with this drug, be sure to leave your review in the comment box at the bottom of this page.
